Creating Futures Together
Welcome to our second Principals report for Term 4. It has been another busy fortnight as we head towards the mid-point of Term 4, 2023!
VCE Students
Our Year 12 VCE students completed an important milestone last Wednesday, with the completion of their formal Year 12 after thirteen years at school. To celebrate the end of the formal school year our Year 12 students enjoyed their final day with a whole school celebration assembly followed by a farewell BBQ.
This week, all scored year 12 students embarked upon the start of their all-important final examinations, with English commencing on Tuesday morning. On behalf of the College, we wish all our Year 12 students the best for their exams and their future pathways.
Arts show
On Thursday October 19th, Staff, Students and Parents attended the opening night of the annual Art and Technologies show. This event not only provided the platform for students to showcase and celebrate their work, but also gave us the opportunity to recognise and present Art and Technology awards to our wonderfully creative students. Congratulations to all students who displayed their wonderful work for the community to admire and a sincere thank you to all the Art and Technology staff for curating this successful event.
Staffing
As we look towards 2024, we are in the process of appropriate workforce planning. We are finalising the 2024 student timetable and are working towards staff allocations. We are looking to have the final version of the 2024 timetable ready for publication in the coming weeks.
YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE 2024
Wheelers Hill Secondary College has reviewed its Year 10 Work Experience Program and as of 2024 Work Experience for students is not compulsory.
Those students who choose to undertake a one-week Work Experience placement will have the opportunity to do so after the completion of the Year 10 into 11 Head Start Program which takes place in November.
Further details will be provided to all students and families at the end of Term 1, 2024.
