This is very easy to enter and running until the 1 August. Whoop whoop! That gives you 5 weeks to enter and the school holidays is a perfect time to get your entry ready. "What will I win?" Good question! The winners will receive a box set of books, there will be one winner for a book review and one winner for a photo of your pet reading a library book.
Book review entries can be submitted via the library catalogue.
Pet reading photo entries can be submitted via email to (koonung.sc@education.vic.gov.au) with the subject heading: Attention Library
And if neither of these box sets interest you, well, you might have a friend, relative or bestie at school who would love to win the set; the gift of giving is wonderful also :)
Brilliant marketing from Puffin..........a new Puffin Classics collection of Jane Austen novels has just been released. Personally I have never read one, however, these new covers are way too pretty to resist and making me want to read them all! Keep an eye out for them coming soon.
This is a repeated heading, however it is for a good reason as (insert drum roll) the replacement MANGA has arrived. If you recall (and some of you won't) the library was flooded last year and we lost roughly a third of the manga collection due to water damage. It is with great excitement that I am running a mini vote for which manga to process first, with students in all year levels invested in the books.
You might think the library is all about Manga, games and more manga however, the non-fiction collection is booming and gets borrowed just as much as the manga collection.. if not more. Below you can see WHY, the range is huge!!
Read a physical book or listen to one? It's a great question and one I get many different answers too. Basically you either love reading or hate it however.............listening to a book could be a game changer, the tool you need to knock off an english text without much effort, just using your ears. You'd be surprised how much of it you remember. At present the library is trialling audiobooks and the response has been great. Accessing them is easy and they are available 24/7 and much easier to carry around than a physical book, it is basically on your phone! A few class texts are available, please come and see me if you are having trouble getting the app on your phone or trying to access the platform via the school, happy to help.
