VCE Food Studies 

The VCE Food Studies students have been exploring the political influences on the food systems including the manufacturing industry, the advertising industry and consumer activism, and how these impact on food choices and food sovereignty. 

The students recently completed a breakfast cereal review where they analysed the ingredients, in particular sugar and sodium against the recommend amount per 100g.

They also identified compulsory features on the labels. 

It was a very sweet and surprising practical activity! 

 

Our Year 12 students are investigating viral food trends, evaluating their nutritional value, and examining how they align with the Australian Guide to Healthy Eating and the Dietary Guidelines. A hands-on, engaging, and enjoyable practical activity encouraged meaningful connections to key nutrition principles.
