Year 8 & 7B Medieval Day

On Tuesday 28th April Year 8 and 7B students participated in Medieval Day. It was wonderful to see the array of costumes and students enjoyed a range of fun activities.

Some highlights from our students:

All the activities were great and enjoyable. Some of the best activities in my eyes were the tournament, archery and the armour and weapons were very fun. Tournament was great because some people got to even hit the instructor which was very enjoyable to watch and some other people got to hit George the test dummy. Archery was very fun because there was a target that everyone took 5 shots at and I had an outstanding result getting all 5 of my shots hitting the target. Then there were additional rounds and in the accuracy round I got another shot to hit the target (a human chest and above). The armour and weapons were nice and cool with lots of student interaction with the armour and other things. It was cool when I got to be a "Pawn" and be compared to the trained knights, but it was fun when I got to hold a crossbow. Overall Medieval Day was extremely cool and fun.

Medieval day was very enjoyable with a lot of fun activities. The tug of war pond game was very enjoyable and informative about how the games were back in the medieval era. The punishment and crime were also very funny, learning about the fair (totally) "Gods Judgement", and how the lady of the village made decisions based on their advantage. It was very informative and interactive. Archery was one of my favourites. The instructor explained the technique well, and everyone got a great opportunity to have a shot at the human figure. The weapons and fashion, which also was about the evolution of warriors and equipment throughout the Viking era, was great, and very interactive. The instructor made it really fun for everyone. Sword fighting was also one of my favourites. It was probably the most interactive activity after the bow and arrow shooting. The instructor was also good in allowing us to fight and make proper attacks. Overall, medieval day was an amazing experience, with great activities and lots of fun!!!

I found Medieval Day really fun. It was interesting to learn about the medieval times, especially about their clothes and weapons. It was very fascinating to learn about their daily life, but my 2 favourite activities were archery and sword battling. I would have preferred our shooting time for archery to have been more, but when I got to shoot the arrows, it was really fun. Also, it took a long time to get going for the 1st activity (the games activity), so we fell short of time. So in conclusion it was an amazing time, and I enjoyed learning more about the intriguing past.

I thought medieval day was very enjoyable. Particularly the crime & punishment activity, it was really interesting learning about all the different ways people would be punished for their crimes. I also had loads of fun with sword fighting. The teacher was really nice and funny and made us feel as though we really were in the medieval days... though a lot safer. Overall it was a great experience and I would definitely do it again.

Medieval day was a fun day for test strength in different medieval activities. For Medieval day, many people dressed up in creative and fantastic costumes. It was so hard to choose who had the best one! In the activities, we did some dress up. We wore armour and tested its strength to see how the armour protects us. We also held very life-like weapons and armour pieces. It was surprisingly really heavy. Archery was one of my favourites. We learned how to use a bow and arrow and we aimed it at a dummy. This activity made my aim a lot better than it was at camp. A really fascinating event was how they used to punish the sins of the town. It may be brutal but it's definitely something I want to look back to and learn more about it. Medieval day was really an enjoyable day and it taught me lots about the Vikings.

Mediaeval Day was very fun and I really enjoyed the activities. The activities were very engaging and I especially enjoyed the jousting. The day was very informative and taught me a lot about medieval history in a very enjoyable way. It was very fun to dress up and enjoy having fun with my friends while enjoying the fun of the mediaeval times.

I genuinely enjoyed Medieval Day, even though I didn't do all the activities. I found it interesting when the workers explained what would happen in Medieval times, and I loved trying the activities. I found Medieval Day both informal and fun, and I think that the whole day was interesting in a way that didn't make me bored.

I really enjoyed medieval day because it was fun to learn about how things were in medieval times. I especially enjoyed learning about weapons and fashion during the medieval era and the person explained it in a really fun and interesting way. Also, I liked learning about how they dealt with crime and the lady explained it in a funny, but also informative way. Overall it was a really great experience that I would definitely do again if I had the chance.

Medieval day was fun, but I wasn’t here for half of it for certain reasons so I can’t really give a proper opinion on it. I enjoyed the crime and punishment workshop  and the balancing-on-wooden-blocks-and-doing-tug-of-war thing. I don't know what else to write. The costumes of the event organisers were well prepared and they were generally great hosts.

Medieval day was a 8/10 for me because I had a lot of fun, especially in archery and sword fighting. We learned about what knights and soldiers wore back in the day. The first activity was a game where we had to pull others off a wooden plank while trying not to fall off ourselves. In another part, we did role-play where someone was ‘the lady’ and decided what would happen to peasants and other criminals. We also got to see the clothes they wore and create a timeline to determine which clothing items were the oldest and most modern.

Medieval Day was a really brilliant incursion and I loved all the games and activities. It showed us a lot of things people would have to do hundreds of years ago. Wearing the armour and using the wooden swords made it feel like I was really there. Some feedback that I had was that one of the instructors was quite indirect and didn't explain stuff that well. Overall, I thought that Medieval Day was really fun and informative at the same time.

I had lots of fun on this day and I mostly enjoyed archery and tournament fighting. It was fun seeing everyone dressed in medieval costumes and telling me about their ancient history. I had fun in all the activities that were planned throughout the day, especially the ones where I was picked to act out a role in medieval times.

I loved medieval day as it was one of the funnest and educational school experiences ever! My favourite part was either crime and punishment or fashion and armour because it was hilarious and everyone got to participate (including me, I got to wear a suit of armour). I didn't really like archery because I had to wait until it was my turn. The costumes were absolutely mind-blowing with people dressing up as royals, Viking, peasants... Overall Medieval Day was amazing and I learnt some interesting facts and had loads of fun.

I thought medieval was very fun. All the activities I did throughout the day were fun and engaging. Everyone who came to our school was nice and fun. I had fun, and I know my friends did too.

Medieval day was a lot of fun and I loved learning about the period in the activities and the play acting we did. I also enjoyed dressing up as a knight and all the instructors dressing up too. It was a very fun day.

I really loved medieval day just because I love Vikings. My favourite show is based on Vikings and learning more about them made me realize things about my show and how interesting the Vikings were, whenever I heard any vocabulary to do with Vikings I had a rush of excitement in me. It was also very interactive and I had a lot of fun.

I found medieval day very fun, informative, and really showed me all the cool things that went on in the medieval day, such as when I got to be the lady of the village and I got to decide what punishment people got. Some people got flayed, whipped, hammered, publicly humiliated and their fingers cut off.
