Year 4 & 6 Swimming

On the 20th of March, the Year 4 and 6 cohort participated in Life Saving Victoria’s Lifesaving Education Program at Hampton Beach. It was an exciting and informative day, where many students could take part in learning about water safety in an engaging and practical way. It was an amazing opportunity to build on their water safety knowledge, swimming skills, and their ability to apply this new information and skills to open-water environments.
Throughout the day, students took part in a variety of activities both in and out of water. Some of these activities were Everyday Lifesavers, where students learnt basic emergency responses, survival and rescue strategies, safe bodyboarding, and a beach sports carnival, where students enjoyed fun games and activities that reinforced their learning about water safety.
The Year 4 and 6 Swimming Program is a great way for students to engage in meaningful and unforgettable experiences about water safety. Thank you to the students and staff from Surf Lifesaving Victoria for making it an unforgettable day!
Grade 4:
I think the beach day was very awesome because we were allowed to go boogie boarding. Even when we fell over a lot and accidently drank sea water, it was extremely fun. The water was way too salty by the way. We also played beach soccer and the shells on the beach scrapped our feet! Our favourite activity was fin boarding. We really enjoyed the Hampton beach swimming excursion. - By Swanik and Hana Z 4P
I loved the beach excursion! It's so fun!!! My favourite activity was the boogie boarding. I fell so many times and the sea water got in my nose and eyes. My hat was drenched in sea water! - By Jane 4C
I loved the excursion to Hampton beach because there was so many activities to do. There were eight. My favourite was the boogie board even though I kept on falling into the ocean. - Meera 4C
We loved that the instructors were kind and fun. We loved going into the ocean and swimming with the boogie boards. We enjoyed that they were organised because they put dry activities first then water ones after. Also, we played soccer, rescuing boards and boogie boards, which we really enjoyed. - By Vivaan and Jasper 4G
