Levels 3-6 KSF Maths Competition

Last week, a number of our Level 3, 4, 5 and 6 students enthusiastically participated in the Kangourou sans Frontières (KSF) Maths Competition, run by the Australian Maths Trust. This internationally recognised event provided students with an exciting opportunity to challenge themselves and experience mathematics in a new and engaging way.

The KSF is the largest maths competition in the world, with more than 6 million students participating globally each year. It is designed to promote problem-solving, logical thinking, and a love of mathematics through a series of fun yet challenging questions.

Students in the Upper Primary division (Years 5 and 6) completed a 60-minute online competition featuring 30 multiple-choice questions. The questions covered a wide range of mathematical concepts including number, algebra, measurement, geometry, statistics, and problem-solving. Students were encouraged to think creatively and apply their knowledge in unfamiliar contexts.

What was particularly impressive was the persistence and resilience shown by our students. Many problems required deep thinking and careful reasoning, and it was fantastic to see students embracing the challenge and giving their best effort.

All participants will receive a certificate recognising their achievement, with awards ranging from Participation through to High Distinction based on performance across Australia.

Congratulations to these specific students on their efforts;

Mishkaat Ali - HIGH DISTINCTION

Eelon Lim - DISTINCTION

Calvin Creta - DISTINCTION

Eline Wang - DISTINCTION

We are incredibly proud of the students who took part and the positive attitude they demonstrated. Opportunities like this help to build confidence, extend mathematical thinking, and inspire a lifelong appreciation of learning.
