Level 5 Swimming Program – A Splashing Success!
Last week, our Level 5 students participated in an exciting and highly valuable two-day Swimming Program at Aqualink Box Hill. Held on Wednesday 18th and Thursday 19th of March, the program provided students with the opportunity to build essential swimming and water safety skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Across the two days, students took part in two 75-minute sessions led by Aqualink’s qualified instructors. They were grouped according to their ability levels, ensuring that every student was both supported and appropriately challenged. Throughout the sessions, students focused on refining their swimming stroke techniques, developing water safety and survival skills, learning basic rescue and revival techniques, and participating in fun aqua fitness activities.
It was fantastic to see students demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience, and a willingness to challenge themselves in the water. Many students showed noticeable growth in their confidence and capability over the course of the program.
This program forms an important part of the Department of Education’s Swimming and Water Safety initiative, which aims to equip all students with lifelong skills to stay safe in and around water. By the end of Year 6, students will be working towards achieving their Victorian Water Safety Certificate, including the ability to swim 50 metres and demonstrate key safety knowledge.
We are incredibly proud of the positive attitude shown by all Level 5 students and look forward to seeing them continue to build on these important life skills in the future.
