Primary Swimming

The Primary Swimming team competed in the JSSATIS Inter-school meet on Thursday 19 March and then the STCPSSA Swimming Carnival on Friday 27 March, both at the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre. There were plenty of nerves early on, before the swimmers settled into their races. The team cheered and supported each other to do their best, and were excited for each other when ribbons were received.  Well done to everyone that swam, and competed so strongly.

Highlights from the carnivals:

  • All relay teams winning ribbons at STCPSSA
  • Ribbons for all Year 3s at their first STCPSSA carnival
  • Olivia, Year 5, placing in all her events, including 4 x 1sts, 4 x 2nds, 2 x 3rds
  • Grace, Year 3, winning 2 events at JSSATIS and 1st and 2nd at STCPSSA

Secondary Volleyball

The Secondary Volleyball roster has been a huge success this term, with a record nine teams representing Mount Carmel in the Monday and Tuesday afternoon rosters.

The Year 7/8 roster included 24 teams, including three Year 7 Mount Carmel teams and two Year 8 teams, with the Year 8 Gold currently sitting in 4th position with 8 wins from 9 matches.   Players were all relatively new to the sport, and still learning on the job, but they had heaps of fun and have all enjoyed some success along the way.

Two Year 9 and Two Year 10 teams played in a 19 team, split pools roster on a Monday.  Due to the public holidays this term, some Friday matches were included in the roster which caused some challenges fielding full teams. All teams enjoyed some good wins and nail biting encounters and improved their skills along the way, particularly in serving.

Well done to all players for showing great sportsmanship, remaining focused under pressure and relishing the experience.  Thanks to the many volunteers for giving up their time to support students to participate.
