Harmony Week

In our Early Learning Centre families were invited to share a dish special to their culture to celebrate Harmony Week. The children enjoyed a wonderful variety of foods, including dumplings, biltong, fairy bread, ANZAC biscuits, Irish farl, shortbread and pumpkin soup.
Inspired by their recent interest in cooking, the children also created rice paper rolls, Thai mango cups, brownies, orange banana cake and chocolate balls alongside their educators.
Through these shared experiences, the children explored how food connects us all and celebrated the diversity within our community. They also decorated handprints for a whole-school diversity tree display in the library, highlighting the message that everyone belongs.

On Tuesday 20 March we gathered as a school to celebrate Harmony Week. We began with a prayer led by our Curriculum Leaders, Izzy and Ashritha and supported by our Year 6 Primary Leaders, Rosa, Vivienne, Doris, Mila, Emmy, Freya and Bonnie. The focus of the assembly was “Everyone Belongs”.
On Wednesday 21 March, with the assistance of some Year 9 students and the Year 6 House Captains, Harmony Day activities were run during lunchtime. Students participated in Chinese Lantern making, Origami, Story telling, Croquet, Bowling, Corn Toss, Bocce, Quoits and Ring Toss. It was a wonderful celebration of games and activities from around the world. Students were also encouraged to wear orange hair accessories as orange is the recognised colour for Harmony Week.
Students from ELC to Year 10 traced their hands and we created a Harmony Tree on the Library window. If popping into school, please take a moment to view the tree.
A sincere thanks to the students who assisted on either day.
God of all people, God of love,
Just as the colours of a rainbow
Blend and merge to form one rainbow,
So too may the colours of our different cultures and beliefs,
blend and merge in our families, our communities and throughout our world,
through mutual respect and acceptance,
so that we may come together in true harmony. Amen.
