"Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning."

(Psalm 30:5)

As we enter the most sacred time of the Church's year, we pause as a school community to reflect on what lies at the heart of our Catholic faith - the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Good Friday: A Day of Love

Good Friday is rightly called good not because of the suffering, but because of the love behind it. Jesus chose the cross freely, taking on the weight of every human mistake and hurt, so that we would never have to face our own struggles alone. For our students, Good Friday is a reminder that being Christian doesn't mean life is easy, but that Christ walks with us through every difficulty.

Easter Sunday: Death Could Not Hold Him

Then comes Easter Sunday, and everything changes. The empty tomb turned the world upside down. The resurrection is the cornerstone of our faith: love is stronger than hatred, light overcomes darkness, and death does not have the last word. He is risen. Alleluia!

The Message for Today

In a world heavy with sadness and uncertainty at the moment, Easter speaks clearly to the message to hold on, don't give up, light is coming. For our students, it is an invitation to live as people of hope, to forgive, to show kindness, to believe even in dark moments that dawn is near.

Wishing your family a blessed and joyful Easter.

“.....And then she hears her name, she hears Love say

The Word that turns her night, and ours, to Day.

Holy Week Comes Alive in the Primary at Mount Carmel College

As the liturgical calendar moves into its most sacred season, the Primary students have embraced Holy Week with a spirit of faith, community, and joyful participation. Two special celebrations brought the entire school together, this week reminding all of us of the profound meaning at the heart of the Easter story.

A Joyful Procession: Palm Sunday Re-enactment (Kinder – Year 2)

The youngest members of the Mount Carmel College community took centre stage in a charming and heartfelt re-enactment of Palm Sunday. Kinder through to Year 2 students walked in procession, waving palm branches and re-living the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

Their bright faces and enthusiastic participation were a beautiful reminder that faith is nurtured from the very earliest years, and that even the smallest voices have an important place in the life of the Church.

This re-enactment was more than a performance - it was an invitation for young students to step inside the Easter story, to feel its joy, and to carry that sense of wonder with them as they grow in their understanding of their Catholic faith.

Walking the Way: Stations of the Cross (Lead by Year 6)

In a powerful demonstration of student leadership and spiritual maturity, the Year 6 students took on the responsibility of presenting the Stations of the Cross to our Primary community.  Leading their peers, teachers, and younger students through the stations, they offered prayers, reflections, and readings that gave voice to the suffering and ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

What made these celebrations so powerful was the sense of togetherness they fostered across the entire school. From the tiniest Kinder student clutching a palm frond to the Year 6 leader reading solemnly at each station, every member of our Primary community had a role to play.

Last week students from Kinder - Year 6 participated in our Learn to Swim program at Collegiate Pool.  Thanks must go to the parents who ensured that their daughters were ready to go each day, allowing for a fabulous week for all.  The week allowed for some students to continue to explore their stroke development whilst for others the fact that getting in a pool at the start of the week was hard but by the end they were jumping in is a huge celebration in itself.
