Junior School Visual Art - Collaborative Artworks

Students in the Junior School are currently working on large collaborative artworks that will be up for sale during Term 4.

Prep students are making textured clay disks and beads decorated with patterns found in nature. The clay pieces will hang from a circular structure in the form of a large mobile.

Year Ones have printed with different block shapes to make towers in the style of Paul Klee’s ‘Castle and the Sun’. Each class will combine their towers to make a collaborative collage.

Students in Year Two have been designing symbols representing themselves. Each circular symbol includes carefully selected colours, lines and shapes and will be included in a whole class design.

The Year Three classes looked at the work of indigenous artist April Nulgit. They took inspiration from her colour choices and simplified images to create desert landscapes. Their ideas are now being combined to make whole class paintings.

The students in Year Four were introduced to artists such as Wingu Tingima and learnt about the importance of place in indigenous culture. They made stylised paintings of important places and are now working on whole class canvases depicting the Canowindra Campus.

All collaborative pieces will be sold through an online charity auction in Term 4.
