Year 5/6 Sport Program

The Year 5/6 students are now halfway through Season 2 of the Year 5/6 Sport Program. This season, students have been participating in Basketball, Kanga Cricket, Softball, Volleyball and Handball. Alongside these sporting opportunities, a range of alternate programs also run during the Friday morning Year 5/6 Sport block, including the Year 5/6 Musical, Chess, Activate and the Cheer Program. 

Across the year, students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of sports and activities, allowing them to develop new skills, build confidence, strengthen friendships and experience different team environments. It has been fantastic to see students demonstrating teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship and enthusiasm as they challenge themselves and support one another throughout the season.

Congratulations to our Girls' and Boys'/Mixed Netball teams on qualifying for the Western Metropolitan Regional Championships! 

Both teams earned their place at the Regional Finals after winning their District and Divisional Championships. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to their hard work, teamwork and determination throughout the competition. 

We wish both teams the very best of luck as they compete in the Regional Finals on Thursday, 6 August. 

Victorian Netball School Championships 

On Monday, three of our netball teams proudly represented the College at the Victorian Netball  School Championships, taking on some of the state's strongest competition. Every player should be incredibly proud of the way they represented the College with skill, determination, and outstanding sportsmanship. 

Our Year 7/8 team had a fantastic day, playing with confidence, enthusiasm, and teamwork. They were competitive in every match and came heartbreakingly close to securing a place in the finals. Their growth and resilience throughout the day were a credit to the team. 

Our talented Year 9/10 team also enjoyed a strong tournament, displaying excellent netball and working seamlessly together on court. Several matches went right down to the wire, and despite a couple of narrow losses, the team never stopped fighting. Their determination and positive attitude were evident in every game. 

Our Senior Year 11/12 team faced a particularly challenging draw, competing against some of the top school netball teams in Victoria. They rose to the challenge with courage and composure, showcasing their experience, skill, and unwavering commitment. One of the highlights of the day was watching sisters Alyssa and Tyra combine so effortlessly in the goal circle. Their exceptional connection, timing, and instinctive understanding of each other's play were a joy to watch and provided the team with a genuine competitive edge. 

Although finals were just out of reach, the day was a wonderful reflection of the strength and depth of netball at our College. Across all three teams, our students demonstrated resilience, teamwork, respect, and a genuine love for the game. They represented the College with pride and should be congratulated on their efforts.  

A very special thank you goes to Jenna Astwood, whose commitment to our netball program is nothing short of extraordinary. Jenna coached all three teams across an incredible 18 matches throughout the day, bringing enthusiasm, encouragement, tactical expertise, and unwavering support to every game. Her passion for developing our players and fostering a positive team culture continues to have a lasting impact on our students. We also extend our sincere thanks to assistant coach Sandra Spencer, whose support, encouragement, and willingness to step in wherever needed helped make the day such a success. 

Congratulations to all our players, coaches, and supporters on a wonderful day of netball. We are incredibly proud of the way you represented our College and look forward to seeing what the future holds for this talented group of athletes.

Parent Collection from Training and Match Venues  

Parents who wish to collect their child directly from a training or match venue must first complete the ACS Sport Student Venue Collection Application via the link below. 

Please note that ACS buses do not return to Canowindra campus at the end of training and match days. All buses return to Yirramboi campus.
