Faith Formation and Mission

Mr Sandy Abbey | Assistant Principal - Faith Formation and Mission

Within Spirituality of the Heart, we often speak about God loving with a human heart through the Sacred Heart of Jesus. As we journey through the Season of Advent preparing for Christmas, we are preparing for the miracle that made this possible—the miracle of the Incarnation, where the love of God became enfleshed in the heart of Jesus.

Amidst the chaos of the lead-up to Christmas, Advent offers us a sacred pause—a time of stillness to reflect on how we can continue to incarnate (make enfleshed) the love of God in our world today. This season is not simply about waiting; it is about preparing our hearts to welcome Christ anew, allowing His love to take flesh in our words, actions, and relationships.

May this Advent be a time where, in the midst of busyness, we choose stillness, prayer, and acts of love that make God’s presence tangible in our families, communities, and world.

Gethsemane Project

Thank you for all the help in providing Christmas packages for residents at Rosnel House and the Disability Trust. Together we managed to provide 120 parcels to help spread joy this Christmas. The packages were brought forward as part of the Offertory at our Advent Liturgy with the first delivery made to Rosnel House immediately following the conclusion of Mass.

Australian Catholic Youth Festival

Eight students from Years 10 and 11 recently travelled to Melbourne to join more than 6,000 young people for the Australian Catholic Youth Festival. Before the festival began, our group gathered with students from Monivae College and Daramalan College for a formation day at the MSC parish in Blackburn. This day was a special opportunity to share in the common charism and prepare spiritually for the journey ahead.

The festival itself was an inspiring experience. Students listened to dynamic speakers, participated in engaging workshops, enjoyed contemporary Christian music, and encountered God through powerful moments of prayer. A particular highlight was a special video message from Pope Leo for the gathering. The theme for this year’s festival was the Jubilee theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, and like any authentic pilgrimage, this experience was transformative. Each student returned enriched by the encounters and opportunities that deepened their faith and strengthened their sense of mission.
