Dear Parents and Carers,
As we draw the curtain on 2025, I invite you to pause and reflect on what has been a remarkable year for Chevalier College. Our theme for the year, “Share your part of the Sacred Heart” has been more than words, it has been a lived reality. It called each of us to contribute our unique gifts, kindness, and compassion to the College and beyond. Together, we have sought to live with heart, serve with love, and build a community where all feel valued and supported.
This spirit was powerfully evident as recently as last Thursday evening at Carols on the Meadows, where voices rose in harmony and hearts united in joy. It was a vivid reminder that ours is a spirit of family (Constitution #34), and that when we come together, we can truly “Be on Earth the Heart of God”
Throughout the year, our connection with parents and carers has been regular, ongoing, and deeply meaningful through teacher engagement, Leaders of House reaching out for pastoral matters, and counsellors offering wellbeing support. Our Home Room structure, strengthened by a reinvigorated House system and the introduction of Leaders of House, has enriched the pastoral care that has long been a hallmark of Chevalier College. We truly see ourselves as six Houses within the one home we call Chevalier College, a home animated by the MSC charism, where relationships matter, and where every person is known and loved.
Beyond pastoral care, this year has been a quest for knowledge, not knowledge for its own sake, but knowledge applied across contexts for deeper learning. In classrooms, on the sporting fields, in creative spaces, and through service, students have demonstrated that learning is most powerful when it transforms understanding and inspires action.
As we enter the season of Advent, we embrace its call to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ, a time of hope, peace, joy, and love. Advent reminds us that even in the busyness of life, we are invited to wait with expectation and to make room for God’s presence among us.
And so, as Christmas approaches, we are reminded that God chose to be close to us by becoming human in Jesus. It’s about love, hope, and kindness breaking into the world. The birth of Jesus shows that every person matters and that light can shine even in dark times. Christmas calls us to share that love through generosity and caring for others, because that’s what makes life meaningful. We are fortunate that each year on the 25th December we stop, pause and rejoice in the promise of the Christ Child born in Bethlehem, the ultimate sign of God’s love for humanity. May this message of love and renewal fill your homes and hearts.
On behalf of all at Chevalier College, I wish you a Merry Christmas, and a safe and restful break. I extend to each family every blessing for the New Year, and I look forward to welcoming you back in 2026 as we celebrate 80 years of Chevalier College, continuing our aspiration to be heart centred and future facing.
Best Wishes,
Greg Miller
Principal
