This year’s Rotary Kids Fun Run with Puffing Billy will be held on Sunday 29th November in Gembrook and we look forward to again seeing your students participating.
Our inaugural event was held in 2002 and has evolved over time to be known as the
Rotary Kids Fun Run with Puffing Billy. The event is a signature fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Emerald & District, raising over $850,000 for children's charities, hospitals, and medical research.
Closure of Edward Road and & Paynes Road, Chirnside Park Intersection
Yarra Ranges Council is writing to advise Wonga Park Primary School of a 12 hour closure of the Edward Road and Paynes Road intersection, Chirnside Park, from 6am to 6pm on Wednesday 21 October 2026.
We understand that some students and families attending Wonga Park Primary School regularly use Edward Road and Paynes Road when travelling to and from school. The closure may affect school drop off and pick up travel on Wednesday 21 October. Please ask families and staff who use this route to plan an alternative route, allow extra travel time and follow the signed detours and temporary traffic management directions.
The closure is required so the electricity provider can safely relocate a power pole and complete the permanent public lighting associated with the new roundabout. These are the final works required to complete the project.
During the closure:
- vehicles will not be able to travel through the intersection;
- signed detour routes will be in place;
- access to nearby properties and businesses will be maintained where practicable and safe to do so;
- traffic management personnel will be onsite to assist road users; and
- emergency services access will be maintained throughout the closure.
The intersection will operate under normal traffic conditions before 6am and is expected to reopen after 6pm. Council will provide an update if the closure arrangements or timing change.
Please share this information with families and staff who may use this route. Further information is available at yarraranges.vic.gov.au/EdwardPaynes or scan the QR code below.
For questions about access or traffic management arrangements, please contact Yarra Ranges Council on 1300 368 333 or email mail@yarraranges.vic.gov.au.
