Engagement & Wellbeing

Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships:

This term in Respectful Relationships, the topic for Prep students is 'Positive Gender Relationships'. This week we explored 'fair and friendly play'. The Prep students shared some games they enjoy playing at school, and for each of the games we discussed the following:

  • How could we include others and what this looks and sounds like
  • How to make sure games are fair for everyone
  • What would it look or sound like to be unkind during play?
  • What does it look or sound like to exclude others?
  • All genders play together fairly

The students then had some time in small groups to role play how these games are played fair and friendly, how they could include others into games and things they could do or say when games are not fair or friendly.

We then played a game as a class and discussed how we played together, what worked well, what didn't work so well, and if we played fair and friendly.

The Prep students did a great job at identifying strategies they can use to make sure play is fair and friendly!

The Grade 1/2 students are continuing to enjoy their individual and class rewards! We have had lots of rewards being cashed in, with quite a few students reaching 50 rewards and others working their way towards 100. There have been class parties, eating lunch with Mr T, free time, colouring, outdoor games, visits to the Grade 3/4 playground and plenty of other fun activities. It has been wonderful to see the students enjoying their rewards and celebrating their efforts!

We have also been revisiting our school expectations. This week, each class has been discussing recycling and how we can help keep our school clean and tidy. The students have been learning about what belongs in each bin and the importance of making the right choices when disposing of their rubbish. We are encouraging everyone to do their part to look after our school environment!

SRC Update

🎨 Mural News!

During the school holidays we had some painting fairies visit to complete our school mural. It looks incredible.

We are incredibly grateful for the support from Kate, our resident artist, who donated time and resources to make this community mural a reality, combining student designs and ideas into something that brightens our school. Also a big thank you to Bunnigns for donating some of our supplies!

Please support Kate's wonderful work by following her here:

Hats are back!

As a proud SunSmart school, students will be asked to wear broad-brimmed hats or bucket hats outside from 1st September. This is in line with the Cancer Council’s SunSmart recommendation that hats be worn from this date through to the end of April. Although it may not feel like hat weather, UV levels can still be damaging on cool, cloudy days.

Staff will spend the first few days reminding students of this change. Following this, students without an appropriate hat will be required to remain in the shaded area around the Hub during lunch and recess.

Too much of the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation can cause sunburn, skin and eye damage and skin cancer. UV damage accumulated during childhood and adolescence is associated with an increased risk of skin cancer later in life. Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Australia. It is also one of the most preventable cancers. You can’t see or feel the sun’s UV. Whatever the weather, if the UV levels are three or more, it’s important to Slip, Slop, Slap, Seek and Slide!

Families are encouraged to access the daily local sun protection times via the SunSmart widget on the school’s website, free SunSmart app, sunsmart.com.au or bom.gov.au.

Hats may be purchased from our uniform supplier, Noone.

Noone's hours are Monday to Friday 9 am-5 pm and Saturday 9 am-12 pm.
