Be Awesome Day is fast approaching - Friday 30th October.
Be Awesome Day is a special day for our school and community, celebrating the life of our former teacher, colleague, and friend, Mark “Stevo” Stevens. Mark passed away in 2019, and his motto, “Be Awesome”, has since become our school motto. To honor Stevo and his fun-loving spirit, we hold a day of festivities featuring a mini school fair. Each class runs an activity stall, while our senior students lead Sideshow Alley. We also welcome local community members, and this year we are excited to include Epsom Bunnings, Annie Brigdale (Artist), Gen & Graeme (Coffee Legends), Camp Australia, and Bendigo CFA.
Event Times:
Mini Fair: 10:30am – 1:30pm
Colour Run: 2:00pm on the cricket oval
For the Colour Run, students will line up in their classrooms with their teachers and walk to the oval together. This ensures a roll check and that all students are accounted for. Students are not to walk to the oval separately with parents. Check out the Parent Club page in the newsletter today for information on how to register.
Here’s how families can help and get involved:
Give permission and pay for your child’s 'Student Passport' via the Compass Event (released today).
Passports:
- Students: $20 (includes all activities, sausage sizzle, and icy poles; no cash required)
- Parents: $10 (includes a coffee, sausage, and an activity)
- Help on the Sausage Sizzle- Please email jane.rodda@education.vic.gov.au to be placed on a roster
- Check your child’s Colour Run fundraising pack, sent home by our Parent Club. Help them raise funds to earn some awesome prizes!
- Send a gold coin donation on the day, which will go towards supporting the Kidney Foundation.
- Support your child’s stall by making donations and helping on their stalls as required – teachers will be in touch if they haven’t already.
Parent Passports & Additional Info: Parent Passports can be purchased at the front office, along with extra student passports for siblings not attending SGPS on the day.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your child’s teacher.
Be Awesome Team
3/4 Camp
We had a great time at the Log Cabin Camp to wrap up Term 3. The adults all loved watching the students challenge themselves, look after each other and have lots of laughs and fun over the three days. Thanks to our parent volunteers and our amazing staff for supporting the students.
After School Pick-Up Reminder
To keep all our students safe after school, we ask that children who are waiting to be picked up stay either at the front or the back of the school. If students are still at the back at 3:30pm, the yard duty teacher will bring them to the front of the school to wait. We remind students often that these two spots are the supervised places to wait. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe!
Jensen's Art on the InMag Cover
The InMag is an Australian magazine for creative kids, featuring stories, artwork, poems, cartoons and more - all created by children from across the country. We are incredibly proud to share that Jensen from 5/6 has had his artwork selected to feature on the cover of the latest edition, Mag 11! What an amazing achievement, Jensen. Congratulations!
