PATHWAYS REPORT
MRS SALLY LOONEY & ANNA STEICKE

From 12-16 October, our final group of Year 10 students completed their work experience placements for the year. It was fantastic to see students exploring a diverse range of industries, including hospitality, health, community services, business, and retail.
In 2026 alone, we have placed more than 100 students in work experience positions. This is a fantastic achievement and would not be possible without the generosity and commitment of local businesses and organisations that provide these valuable opportunities for our students.
Work experience gives students firsthand insight into workplace expectations while allowing them to experience the realities of different industries and careers. For many students, it is their first opportunity to step into a workplace and gain practical experience in a professional environment.
Our work experience program helps students develop independence, confidence, and employability skills that will support them throughout their senior years of schooling and as they consider future pathway options beyond school.
We sincerely thank all employers who have supported our students throughout the year and helped make the program such a success.

Industry Visits
Over the past few weeks, our Year 10 students have had the opportunity to visit several local businesses to gain firsthand insights into different industries and career pathways.
Students visited Grizzly Engineering, where they were welcomed by Rob and Kurt for a tour of the business. Students enjoyed seeing the entire operation, from the initial stages of production through to the finished product. During the visit, Rob highlighted the importance of Mathematics and how it is used in many aspects of the industry. He also reassured students that businesses are often willing to teach job-specific skills, but stressed that initiative, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn are qualities that employers highly value.

Students also toured Swan Hill Truck Service, where Tyson and Marcus provided a behind-the-scenes look at a busy workshop environment. The visit gave students a greater understanding of the opportunities available within the automotive industries. Marcus shared an important message, reminding students that it is perfectly okay not to know exactly what they want to do in the future. However, when participating in work experience or entering the workforce, it is important to give your best effort, arrive ready to work, and take pride in doing a good day's work.
We would like to thank Rob, Kurt, Tyson, and Marcus for taking the time to share their knowledge and experiences with our students.
We were also lucky enough to have Carl Hufer come into the school to speak with 10B! Carl explained to the students what careers in the racing industry can look like, the wide range of opportunities available, and how pathways such as Sports Management can connect to careers in racing. He also spoke about the importance of making informed subject choices at school and how these decisions can help support future career goals. We would like to thank Carl for sharing his knowledge, experience, and time with our students.
