French

On the hunt for: Magazines and newspapers
Looking to borrow: Crepe makers
Salut! Time has been spent in the French room the last few weeks getting to know students, their interests and incorporating this into their collages.
Prep
Students have continued exploring greetings and expanded on these asking how are you and some learned responses to these such as I am well, not good and OK. Students have created finger puppets, naming them and using them to practice their greetings and actions. Students have played guess who games with students using the greetings to a turned away peer. Students used these to develop faces of the greetings and practiced with their puppets.
Year 1/2
Students have played guess who games using their name greetings and created collages of their faces and ages to connect the greetings to the collage focus. Students have used abstract imagery to create their faces as well as colours and images they liked to layer their ages.
Years 3-6
Students have been working to develop their personal collages. They have been exploring layering, abstract imagery and lettering. Students have written French paragraphs to go alongside their collage using their knowledge of the French sentence starters "J'aime", "J'ai" and "Je". In the coming weeks students will look at collage artist Henri Matisse and develop their own inspired art works.
