Prep

We could not be more impressed with how well the preps have started school. We are very proud of how students have settled into routines and taking everything school related in their stride! Thankyou for your support, it is greatly appreciated.
Literacy
During phonics, students have been learning about S, A, T, P, I, N, D, C, G, O, and F. Students have been matching the letter to the sound. This has supported us to read and write words.
During literacy, we have been learning about predicting and making text to self connections. Predicting is making educated guesses about what we think might happen next in a story. We used our prior knowledge and text clues.
Text to self connections is when we read or listen to something and we think about how the events or characters reminds us of something that has happened in our life.
Numeracy
In maths, we have been learning about numbers to 10. Students have been learning new maths games, how to write numbers and how to represent numbers. A fun maths game you could play at home with your family is called Tenzi. Here is the link to the game below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0Lrrrw6GB0
Humanaites and Wellbeing
We have been learning all about how we can care for others in our community. Students have been practicing showing perserverence, ways we can communicate with people and who in our community we can go to for help.
During our wellbeing sessions, we have been learning about identifying our emotions and what our bodies look and feel like, for example, when we smile we are happy.
Buddies
We have been very lucky to have super helpful buddies. We have been spending time with them and getting to know them a little better. We had the opportunity to draw a picture of ourselves - half by the preps, half by the grade 6s.
Reminders
-Library every Fridays - please make sure students books are in their bags ready to return to borrow
-This week, we were lucky to have the Geelong Advertiser come and take class photos. These will be availible in the paper in the coming weeks.
Thanks,
Prep Team
