Another Medal for Sam

Congratulations to Sam Siggins (SVC 2007-2010) on being announced as the joint winner of the 2025 William Leitch Medal. The medal was awarded to the best & fairest player in the Southern Tasmanian Football League, which this year replaced a Statewide league. Sam, co-captain of the Lauderdale team and Josh Green (the son of former student Michael Green) collected 17 votes. Runner-up on 16 votes was another OV – Oscar Paprotny ( svc 2014-17), the Clarence vice-captain.
Sam was also the League’s leading goalkicker with 71 ‘majors’.
It has been a remarkable few years for Sam – a former Adelaide draftee - since returning home again after playing the 2018 season with Geelong in the VFL. Previous to winning this year’s medal, Sam was a three-time recipient of the Alistair Lynch Medal awarded to the Best & Fairest in the now-defunct Statewide League in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
In 2023, Sam was the winner of the Lefroy medal, presented to Tasmania’s best player in inter-state competition.
