Principal's Report

Mrs Pauline Barker

We have had an amazing term full of events and activities that have engaged students in their pathways planning and choices, outdoor and adventure activities, performing arts and sports.  We have provided these opportunities that have connected them to their peers and school and showcased their efforts and talents.

We are extremely proud of our Year 7-10 AFL Girls Football team who won the State Grand Final defeating Rowville SC. This was a huge achievement as Rowville is the standard being champions for a couple of years in a row.  Congratulations to the co-captains Dakota Edmonds and Lucy Gillottie on the way they led the team, conducted themselves and accepted the trophy with pride and humility.  Congratulations to Laura Frazer and thank you to her for her vision and dedication to girls’ football. Thank you to her support team, Rick Le Gassick, Kathy Berg and James Hewson and the students who assisted in roles on the sidelines.

The Year 12 Formal was a great success, and the students conducted themselves exceptionally on the night. Thanks to Ross Pearson for organising the event and to the staff who attended.

Greensborough Live! was a great showcase of our talented performing arts students and staff. Performing Arts is thriving at the College. We congratulate our students who participated in the State School Spectacular in the mass choir and Alex Nutman-Brown who had a key singing role in the show and Thomas Lambourne who had a key role as a technician.  Thank you to Molly Krausgrill, Mandy Goldsworthy and Allira Wilson for supporting the students to participate in the program.

In recent weeks students have been actively involved in RUOK? Day, Wear it Purple Day, with Footy Colours Day coming up in the last week of term.  The Attitudes to School data is strong around our students’ connection to school with many health and wellbeing indicators above other schools in the network and the state.

It is the time of the year when Australian Rules Football and the National Rugby League is prominent locally and nationally. Congratulations to our local football and sporting teams and to our students and families who are involved in these teams.  Many local teams have won premierships, and some are playing in Grand Finals this weekend. I am looking forward to my AFL team, Collingwood, challenging for the premiership in coming weeks! To all our students and families who participate and volunteer in sporting teams and clubs throughout the year, I wish you all the best and I know your community thanks you for all that you do to ensure clubs and people are thriving.

I wish all our students, families and staff all the best for a safe and restful term three holidays. Term 4 resumes on Monday 6th October.
