Year 1/2 Learning Reflection

The Year 1/2 students have been busy over the past fortnight doing some amazing learning and continuing to focus on lining up in SHAPE and sitting in STAR!

In Core Literacy, the year one and two students have continued to develop their knowledge of Initial Code and Extended Code sounds and spelings. The year one students have been working on Initial Code Unit 8 vcc & cvcc words and focusing on saying the sounds as we write them. Year two students have been working on Extended Code Unit 4 /oe/ and how a sound can be represented by more than one spelling. 

In Applied Literacy, our year one classes have continued exploring our class text, "A Year on Our Farm". We have been learning about sentences and fragments and identifying the who/what and what doing in sentences from our book and in our own writing. The year two classes have enjoyed continuing to explore their text, "Under the Southern Cross". 

In Maths, year one have been practising counting forwards and backwards, bundling groups of ten and learning about quadrilateral and triangle shapes. In year 2, students have been learning how to read and write three-digit numbers.

Year one have been doing Biological Science in Systemic Knowledge, learning about the basic needs of living things and how we can categorise them according to what type of living thing they are including animal, plant, microorganism and fungi. Year two have been learning about Health and Human Biology with a focus on the topic "Caring for Each Other".
