Music Department

It has been an extremely busy end of Term for Norwood’s music students with several events taking place. We celebrated our wonderful instrumental music students at our annual ‘Music Showcase’ which highlighted the fabulous music ensembles that Norwood has to offer. The night was led by the instrumental music staff alongside our incredible music captains Bonnie M, Aoife F and Jett S. 

Congratulations to the ensembles that performed: Senior String Orchestra, Chamber Strings, Chorale, Intermediate Band, Junior Band, Jazz Band, Senior Vocal Ensemble and Concert Band. Your musicianship was superb and the standard of your performances were extremely high. Well done! 

I would also like to celebrate our Year 12 students in the program, who will be leaving us shortly, as this was their last music event at Norwood for them. Congratulations to Isabelle A, Indi B, Bonnie M, Liana O, Sienna S and Hayley T who all performed beautifully, and Kara Stubbings and Oren Bheem who unfortunately couldn’t make the performance. We wish you all the best on your upcoming examinations and for whatever comes next for you. 

During the same week, we also celebrated R U OK? Day, which was a wonderful opportunity for music students to come together and perform either in an ensemble or as a soloist during the lunch time festivities organised by Wellbeing. The performances were entirely student led and organised for this event, and it was so joyous to see the dedication of the students in preparing their performances for their peers. Thank you to all the students who performed and to those who came along to watch and support. We are in the process of organising another lunch time concert for Term 4, so keep your eyes peeled!
