Captains' Corner
Last week on Saturday 29 August, we had the most incredible opportunity to perform at John Cain Arena as part of the Department Of Educations annual program The Victorian State Schools Spectacular.
The program involved 8 months of auditions, multiple call backs, weekly rehearsals at the Performing Arts Unit in Collingwood and a week long rehearsal at John Cain before the show. We both participated in the show as Principal Vocalists. We were both incredibly lucky to be in the show a second year as Principal Vocalists, having performed in the same roles in 2025.
With a large effort from many government schools and its students from around Victoria, the show included principal vocalists and dancers, an 80 piece orchestra, specialty/circus artists and a mass cast of choir and dance. Featuring hits songs from the Greatest Showman, Lady Gaga, Led Zeppelin and Tina Turner! We performed to a sold out audience for the night show and energy was roaring, particularly in the finale number ’The Greatest Show’ full film version from the Greatest Showman!
The Victorian State Schools Spectacular was a once in lifetime opportunity for us, getting to perform with a like-minded principal cast and be mentored by well known industry professionals like Yvette Lee and Chong Lim. All of it was truly incredible, from the experience we have had to the friends we have made!
We are immensely grateful for this experience and have had a blast throughout the rehearsal process and performing these shows!
The show will be aired on Channel 7 on the 18th of December, so be sure to not miss out!

To celebrate 'R U OK? Day' last week, we had an extended lunchtime filled with lots of fun activities. Students could decorate tote bags, watch live performances from music students in Years 7–12, grab some food from the food trucks, and watch the highlight of the day, the teachers and some Year 12 students taking on the dunk tank!
The day was a great reminder to check in with our friends and ask how they are doing.
'R U OK? Day' also reminded us that it’s okay not to be okay, and that we should never be afraid to speak out or ask for support when we need it.
A few weeks ago, we also had another Teachers vs Year 12 UNO competition. Sadly, we lost, meaning the score is now 3–4 to the teachers. However, we’re ready to get our revenge and beat them in the upcoming footy match which is on Friday to level the scoreboard!
The cohort has done so well completing their final SACs this week, and now everyone is ready to shift their focus towards exam preparation. We’re almost there!
