Celebrating the Feast of Saint Mary MacKillop – August 8
This week, we celebrate the feast day of Saint Mary MacKillop, Australia’s first saint and a woman of deep faith, courage, and compassion. Mary MacKillop dedicated her life to the service of others, especially the poor and those living in remote communities. She believed in the power of education and co-founded the Sisters of St Joseph to bring learning and faith to all, regardless of their background.
Mary’s motto, “Never see a need without doing something about it,” continues to inspire us to live with kindness, generosity, and action.
As a school community, we take this opportunity to reflect on her life and ask for her guidance in our own journeys. Students have been learning about St Mary during morning prayer time.
Prayer to Saint Mary MacKillop
Loving God,
We thank you for the example of Saint Mary MacKillop, who lived with courage, faith, and kindness.
Help us to follow her example by reaching out to those in need, standing up for what is right, and trusting in Your loving care each day.
Saint Mary MacKillop, pray for us.
Amen.
