Performing Arts News

Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcomed as your new Performing Arts teacher. I have been enjoying getting to know all of the students and look forward to all of the music we are going to make together over the next two terms.

What's happening in the Performing Arts room?

We have begun our music journey by learning about rhythm and beat. In Prep, One and Two we are learning to keep the beat through the chant 'Who Stole the Cookie from the Cookie Jar?'. In Three, Four, Five and Six, we are testing our skills with a beat activity called 'Sevens'.

Our focus so far has been on Body Percussion. We have been using stomps, claps, clicks, pats, pounds and rests to create different rhythms. Each class has been working hard to play at the same tempo.

This week, the Preps had a go at creating their own Body Percussion using the symbols we have been learning. The Ones and Twos practiced reading music and performing what they had read. And the Threes, Fours, Fives and Sixes are working hard to create a Body Percussion sequence to accompany a song of their choosing.

PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK

Each week, four students from across the school are acknowledged as our Performers of the Week, celebrating their talent and effort in their lessons.

CONGRATULATIONS...

Week 3: Mila (2AJ), Isiah (2ED), Manny (3BK), Milly (4KR)
