What's happening in Italian?
Salve,
Have you heard what’s been happening in Italian?
Here's a snapshot of our past few weeks.
The Prep students have been learning all about Gli animali della fattoria (Farm animals) in Italian. They have enjoyed discovering the names of different animals and practising how to say them in Italian. One of the highlights has been listening to the sounds different animals make, and guessing the animal in Italian e.g. “È una mucca!” (It’s a cow!). Bravi, Preps!
In Years 1 and 2 the students have been exploring Gli animali della fattoria (farm animals) in Italian. They’ve been learning the names of different animals and taking part in a fun activity where they guessed the animal in response to the question “Chi sono?” (Who am I?). Students answered using full sentences like “Sono un cavallo” (I am a horse). Ben fatto!
Our Years 3 and 4 students have been exploring the fascinating world of animals in Italian. They have learnt the names of various animals, including domestic pets, farm animals, and zoo animals. Building on this vocabulary, students were introduced to the definite articles il, la and l’, and have been learning how these grammatical elements are used with different animal names. They practised applying this new knowledge through speaking and writing activities. To further reinforce their learning, students also used Languagenut to complete a variety of listening, reading, and writing tasks. Bravissimi!
Over the last few weeks, the Year 5 and 6 students have been learning about animals, with a particular focus on domestic pets. They learnt the names of different pets in Italian and developed their listening skills by engaging with short texts about children and the pets they have. Using this as a foundation, students then wrote short sentences to describe each child and their pet. Along the way, they were introduced to some key aspects of Italian grammar, including the use of definite articles and verbs, to help them construct grammatically correct sentences. It’s been wonderful to see their confidence and understanding grow as they apply their language skills in context. Ottimo lavoro, ragazzi!
The students have shown fantastic effort, keep up the great work.
Ben fatto a tutti!
Saluti e alla prossima volta.
