Alumni Stories

Bruce (Class of 2019) and Hazel Armstrong (Class of 2020)
Brother/sister combo Bruce and Hazel are both working as Teacher Aides at home, at Batchelor Area School. Bruce completed Year 12 at St Kevin’s in 2024 and is having a Gap Year at home. Hazel completed Year 10, and part of Year 11 at Camberwell Girls Grammar School in 2023 and has been working since then. The siblings say it’s fun to be on the other side and helping (and bossing) the students around!
Ruby (Class of 2019)
Ruby completed Year 12 at Camberwell Girls Grammar in 2024, and this year she is commencing a nursing/midwifery double degree at Monash University, Peninsula Campus. Ruby was successful in gaining a relocation and accommodation scholarship (here she is pictured in her room on campus) and she has signed up for Uni footy - go Ruby!
Rumarlea Billy (Class of 2019)
Rumarlea, who graduated Year 12 at Kingswood College in 2024, surprised everyone at MITS with a visit last week, and there were many excited reunions with friends and staff. Rumarlea has been working at home in Derby, at the Emama Nguda Aboriginal Corporation doing admin and finance since November last year. Rumarlea let us know that she is moving up at work, and she has enrolled in TAFE to do a Cert III in accounts administration and is also doing payrolls for some of the companies.
Debbie Rose Narbarup (Class of 2019)
Featuring again, one of our 2024 Year 12 grads (Siena College), Debbie recently joined Ed and Sally in Yarralin to help with community engagement work! Debbie facilitated conversations in language with Kiyomi (who is in Yarralin but from Nganmarriyanga) and then chaperoned several students down to Melbourne. Go Debbie!
