Year 8 Classroom Update

Term 1 is almost over, and the students are excited to be heading home soon!

The Year 8 students have worked incredibly hard this term and have also enjoyed using the facilities at Trinity Grammar. The indoor gym has been a fantastic place for games like Futsal and for learning the strategies of five-a-side soccer.

Competitive basketball games have also taken place on the courts outside the classrooms. Our MITS mob—girls and fellas alike—even challenged the Trinity boys to a hotly contested game before school. The library has been an excellent space for assemblies, and it has been great to see the MITS fellas helping a Year 11 Trinity student with his VCE Product Design coursework. The Trinity partnership has been invaluable to our schooling program, and we are incredibly grateful for their support.

It has been a wonderful term, with Melbourne University visiting Trinity to help support our science sessions. We have focused on chemical reactions, acids and bases, and the properties of different chemicals. All our lessons have involved mixing and combining substances to observe their reactions. On Thursday, the students completed a murder mystery investigation, identifying an unknown chemical while practicing their new lab skills and chemistry knowledge. It was a terrific way to end the science program for Term 1, and we look forward to exploring biology in Term 2.

Across all subject areas this term, students have produced high-quality work. Here are photos of some highlights from the semester across various curriculum areas: Nick has been working hard in literature circles, while Josie, Curtis, and Jermaine have been diving into their science experiments. We’ve also seen some impressive KINWAY fashion designs and outstanding Intercultural Studies projects.

Thank you for a fantastic term and for all the support you provide to your young people!
