371 Senior Girls
It’s hard to believe how quickly the Term has flown by!
The past few weeks have been packed with exciting activities for the Senior Girls. Footy fever has well and truly taken over, with the Girls having a blast attending the Richmond vs Carlton Round 1 match, along with a few other games throughout the week.
Despite the rain, a group of Girls braved the weather to watch the F1 last Sunday, making it a memorable adventure. A couple of days earlier our Year 8 fellas met two of the drivers from the Alpine team, teaching them how to play the yidaki! A big thank you to the Australian GP Corporation for making these experiences possible.
The celebrations continued with a wonderful end-of-term dinner at Grazeland on Saturday night, followed by our annual Sailing Day in Sorrento thanks to the Sorrento Couta Boat Club - always a highlight of the year.
On top of all that excitement, the U14’s Girl’s basketball team has made it through to the Grand Final this Saturday. We are hoping to have lots of MITS supporters there to cheer them on.
The CGGS Year 9s played their first netball game on Saturday. Although they didn’t come away with a win, they had a fantastic time and enjoyed the experience.
It's been a busy Term for the Senior Girls, and everyone is looking forward to a well-earned break over the holidays.
Year 7 Boarding
Year 7 students have well and truly settled into life at MITS. Despite some covid cases passing through the house, the Year 7s have showed up on time and ready to learn for school every day, whilst continuing to enjoy exploring Melbourne on the weekends.
In recent weeks, the Girls visited Rick and Liz's Farm for a long weekend camp where they attended the Red Hill Show, went to the beach and went canoeing. They had a great time. The Fellas stayed in Richmond and went to Moomba - a large festival celebrating Melbourne.
We attended Richmond's Round 1 game at the MCG - with an amazing win and comeback by the Tiges. Students did an awesome job at representing MITS in front of 80,000 people. In the last week, the students have had their first week of preseason training with the RJFC, all showing great courage to be part of the team, learn new skills and meet new people.
Student Chef has been an ongoing success with students reflecting on their ability to cook new foods. The fellas took a visit to Scotch College to meet Year 11 students who will support them with homework in Term 2.
Last weekend, all students jumped on boats with volunteers and cruised around the bay here in Melbourne. We saw dolphins, seals and stingrays and then jumped off the jetty and had a swim!
We have our final weekend activity at Luna Park and an end of term dinner at a Seafood boil restaurant to celebrate an incredible first term at MITS.
Students are all looking forward to the term break and being with you all at the end of next week!
