NAIDOC Week 2026

National Reconciliation Week - 27 May to 3 June
Teachers will be leading one or two classroom activities with students to celebrate the event and we are excited to share in a range of insightful and meaningful experiences such as:
- The Library will be set with a ‘reading circle' - based on the idea of ‘Campfire Conversations’, creating a space that is culturally safe and empowering for all in the community to share stories, experiences and knowledge. On the main book display will be all books held in the library by Indigenous Authors, for teachers and Students to peruse.
- Reading Teacher Mentor Texts e.g. Wathaurong - The Magpie translated text from the local language.
- Free incursions on various dates from Museum of Australian Democracy at Old Parliament House, such as - The Land Recalls You by award-winning Gunai author Kirli Saunder / Come Home, Bigibila by: Corey Tutt & Irma Gold
- During assembly, there will be an Acknowledgement of Country reading, with one student from a set class representing the students.
- National Reconciliation Week will be part of Friday’s Assembly - 2 students from each learning community will share a reflection on the books read this week
