Sport Coordinator’s Report – Term 2, 2025

What an outstanding second half of Term 2 it has been at Doncaster Secondary College from a sporting perspective. As we close out the term, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible achievements, participation and enthusiasm shown by our students across a wide variety of sporting events. Whether competing for house points, representing the College in inter-school competition or simply joining in the fun, our students have made this term one to remember.

Our whole school Athletics and Cross Country Carnivals were once again standout events on the calendar. Both days were filled with colour, energy and strong house spirit. It was fantastic to see so many students participating, encouraging one another and enjoying the opportunity to be active and involved in the wider school community.

Our students also continued to proudly represent Doncaster Secondary College at Division and Regional sporting events. Their commitment, teamwork and pride in wearing the DSC colours were evident throughout the term. A huge congratulations to all teams and students who competed. Below is a snapshot of our Term 2 interschool sport results and acknowledgements:

Year 12 vs Year 11 Full Pitch Soccer Match – A Clash for the Ages

One of the biggest highlights of Term 2 was the long-awaited return of the Year 12 versus Year 11 full pitch soccer match. Played in front of a large crowd of students and staff, this fixture delivered everything you could ask for — intensity, passion, skill and drama right to the final whistle.

The match kicked off with the Year 11s bursting out of the gates, showcasing their flair and energy by scoring the opening goal in style. It was a moment that had the Year 12s on the back foot early, but they remained calm and composed. In true big-game fashion, they hit back quickly thanks to the impact of super sub Sam Papas who found the back of the net to level the score. From there, both sides traded chances and displayed some terrific football, but neither team could break the deadlock before the final whistle.

With the scores locked, the game went to penalties, adding even more drama to an already intense battle. In the end, it was the Year 12s who held their nerve. King Mikael sealed the win with the final penalty, showing nerves of steel and sending his cohort into celebration.

This match was a fantastic display of sportsmanship, leadership and school spirit, and it was great to see the entire school community come together to enjoy such a memorable occasion. Congratulations to both teams for making this a highlight of the term and setting the bar high for future year-level showdowns.

Looking ahead to Term 3

At the beginning of Term 3 we have our student favourite senior event the ‘John Timms Shield’ 3x3 Basketball Tournament. The players have been assigned to their teams and they’ve got two weeks to prepare. We look forward to having all students attend and creating a fantastic atmosphere in the school stadium as these teams battle for the shield.

WHO YOU GOT? Pick your team. Stand by them. Encourage them. Cheer loudly for them.

MONDAY LUNCH TIME IN THE STADIUM – DAY 1 TERM 3.

A big thank you to all staff involved in coaching and supporting our teams throughout the term. Your time and energy helps make these opportunities possible. I am extremely proud of the culture of sport that continues to grow here at Doncaster Secondary College. I look forward to an exciting Term 3 with even more opportunities for students to get involved and shine.

Go DSC!
