Celebrating Academic Excellence at Doncaster Secondary College
At Doncaster Secondary College, our strategic goal is to maximise the learning growth of every student, knowing that when growth is our focus, all students are empowered to achieve academic excellence and success. Growth and achievement are nurtured through a learning culture that focuses on high expectations, strong partnerships, and a culture that values respect, resilience, and responsibility. Our students consistently demonstrate not only academic capability, but also the character and global perspective that prepare them to thrive and lead in an ever-changing world.
This year, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of several outstanding students who have been recognised at the highest levels across Victoria, reflecting both their individual determination and the collective support of our staff, families, and broader community.
Doncaster Secondary College Students Win Top Honours at Premier’s VCE Awards:Along with Assistant Principal, Kristin Skennar, I had the honour of attending the annual Premier’s VCE Awards held on 2 July. The awards recognise students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE). More than 1,000 guests attended the prestigious ceremony, where Victoria’s top-performing 2024 VCE students were recognised for their outstanding academic results.
Congratulations to Doncaster Secondary College students, Eleanna Sklavenitis, and Ella Grant, who were recognised with a Premier’s VCE Award for their outstanding VCE results in 2024.
- Eleanna received a Study Award for Greek, which she completed through the Language School, Greek Orthodox Community of Melbourne and Victoria.
- Ella received a Study Award for Health and Human Development.
They were amongst 315 of Victoria’s top-performing students recognised at this year’s Premier’s VCE Awards.
The entire Doncaster Secondary College community is proud of Eleanna and Ella and would like to congratulate them on being the recipients of such prestigious awards.
Eleanna is currently completing her Year 12 studies at Doncaster Secondary College, whilst Ella is studying Law and Psychology at Monash University. We wish them every success.
Doncaster Secondary College Shines Again at the 2025 Victorian Global Learning Awards:
We are also delighted to announce that Doncaster Secondary College has once again achieved outstanding recognition at the 2025 Victorian Global Learning Awards (VGLA), an annual celebration of the excellence, leadership, and contributions of international students across Victoria.
This year, we proudly congratulate two exceptional members of our International Student Program for their remarkable accomplishments:
- Hong Yuet (Venus) FUNG – Global Citizenship Award
- Meyly (Elly) TE – Academic Excellence Award
These prestigious state-level honours reflect the strength of our college’s inclusive, culturally rich, and supportive learning environment. The Victorian Global Learning Awards serve as a platform to recognise the collective efforts of students, schools, teachers, coordinators, homestay families, and the wider education community in fostering global citizenship and intercultural understanding. These values remain at the heart of our work at DSC.
This year’s achievements build on a proud tradition of success within our International Student Program, following the recognition of Harry Bui (2022) and Berry Eain (2024)—both recipients of the International Student of the Year – Ambassador Award. Such consistent acknowledgement at a state level continues to enhance DSC’s reputation as a leading destination for international education in Victoria.
We take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to the International Student Program staff, dedicated classroom teachers, Year Level Coordinators, Wellbeing Team, my Principal Team, and our broader school community for the ongoing support provided to our international students.
To Venus and Elly, we are incredibly proud of your achievements. Your success represents the spirit of excellence that defines Doncaster Secondary College, and we look forward to seeing your continued impact as inspiring global citizens. Congratulations once again to all involved, your efforts, commitment, and success inspire us all.
As Term 2 draws to a close, I invite you to read on and learn more about the programs and opportunities at Doncaster Secondary College. Our commitment to academic growth, personal development and community connection continues to be driven by the dedication of our exceptional staff and students.
This term has seen many highlights, from the Music Tour and Winter Concert to the Careers Experience program, each offering valuable learning beyond the classroom. Student leadership has remained strong, with students taking on meaningful roles across the school. We've also enjoyed staff vs student events, Inter and Intra school sport, and the Duke of Edinburgh 15 Mile Creek Camp.
Our Wellbeing Team has continued to support students through a range of clubs and activities that promote inclusion and connection. These experiences are made possible by the ongoing efforts of our staff and students who consistently go above and beyond.
We wish all families a safe and restful break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for an exciting Term 3.
Warm regards,
Glenn Morris
