Dear Families, 

It has been another busy and exciting week in Year 6! We would like to congratulate all of our students who participated in the District Lightning Premiership. The students represented our school with enthusiasm, determination and fantastic teamwork. We were so proud to see them encouraging one another, supporting their teammates and demonstrating great sportsmanship throughout the day. Well done, Year 6! 

This week we also recognised R U OK? Day, an important reminder of the power of checking in with the people around us. Students were encouraged to think about how a simple “Are you okay?” can open up a conversation, show someone that we care and help create a supportive and caring school community. 

We hope all of our families had a wonderful Father’s Day and enjoyed celebrating the special fathers, grandfathers and father figures in their lives. We have also added some more photos below for you to enjoy!

Learning For Week 10:

Religious Education: In Religious Education this term, our focus has been on the inquiry question, “How do our choices shape the story we leave behind?” They have reflected on how living with kindness, compassion, courage and faith can help us make positive choices and leave a lasting impact on our community. 

English: In English next week, students will continue reading our class novel, Can You See Me? Students will develop their comprehension skills by reading and responding to questions about the text. We will also explore new vocabulary from the novel, with students learning to understand and use these words in context.

Mathematics: In Mathematics next week, multiplication has been a big focus. Students have been developing their multiplication skills and exploring how these strategies can be applied to everyday situations. We will continue building fluency and confidence so students can use their mathematical skills in meaningful, real-life contexts.

Performing Arts: In Performing Arts next week, students will continue refining and rehearsing their Graduation choreography. They will focus on performing with accuracy, timing and expression as they work towards a confident and polished final performance.

Auslan: In Auslan next week, students will complete their end-of-cycle assessment. This will provide an opportunity for students to demonstrate the Auslan vocabulary, signs and skills they have developed throughout the learning cycle.

Social & Emotional Learning: In SEL next week, students will explore how they can respectfully advocate for dignity, inclusion and fairness. They will work together to design an action plan that promotes fairness and helps create a more inclusive and supportive school community.

What you can do to help your child at home

• Encourage your child to read for at least 20 minutes each day and discuss the characters, events and themes in their book.

Important Classroom Reminders:

• Fidget Toys

  We kindly ask that students do not bring fidget toys to school unless their use is a planned adjustment in consultation with Allied Health Professionals. Students who bring fidget toys without an approved adjustment will be asked to place them in their school bag for the remainder of the day to take home. We appreciate your support in encouraging your child to leave fidget toys at home.

• Please ensure that you are labelling all your child's belongings.

• Thursday 17th September - Last Day of Term 3 and wear your sports team colours 
• Friday 18th September - Student Free Day. Staff have a Professional Development Day. 
• Monday 5th October - First Day of Term 4
• Thursday, 8th October - Year 6 Graduation Photos 
• Wednesday, 9th December - Year 6 Graduation (5 pm to 7 pm)
• Thursday, 10th December - Final day of school for Year 6 students
