A Place to Belong

Thank you for another wonderful term in boarding!

Term 3 is always one of the busiest times of the year, and our boarders have embraced a full program of activities, sport, assessments and block exams. Congratulations to all students for the dedication, resilience and commitment they have shown throughout the term.

This week, we also farewell Residential Boarding Assistant Sian and Catering Manager Wade. We thank them both sincerely for their care, support and commitment to our boarders, and wish them all the very best for the future.

Boarding Events and Celebrations

Last Friday evening, Clayfield College attended the annual Yalari Gala Dinner at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Yalari is a valued partner of the College, providing tuition scholarships and ongoing student support for our Indigenous students.

We are especially proud to congratulate Year 12 boarder Jordyn Scott, who will graduate from both Clayfield College and Yalari this year. Jordyn joined us from Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory in Year 7, 2021 and has made an outstanding contribution to our community.

Throughout her time at Clayfield, Jordyn has represented the school in a range of sports, worked hard academically to pursue her chosen vocation, and demonstrated exceptional leadership as Yalari Captain in 2025 and Henderson House Captain in 2026. She leaves us as a confident and capable young adult, ready to take on the world and pursue her dream of joining the Queensland Police.

We are also delighted to celebrate Year 11 boarder Libby Sebasio, who received the Senior Yalari Leadership Award on the night.

Past Clayfield College parent and proud Yalari sponsor, Sue King, presented Libby with her award and shared the following words:

Libby is a kind, compassionate and enthusiastic student who consistently gives her best effort and embraces new challenges with a positive attitude. Having previously served as a Yalari Captain, Libby demonstrates strong leadership, integrity and a genuine commitment to supporting others.

 

Throughout her time as a Yalari Captain, Libby has led by example, regularly checking in on her peers and ensuring everyone feels included, valued and supported. Her caring nature, maturity and ability to build positive relationships have made a meaningful impact on those around her.

 

Libby is a positive role model, she is someone others can look up to, and we have no doubt she will continue to thrive and make a positive contribution during her Senior year in 2027.
