Reward for Effort
What a way to close Term 3!
Across the courts, fields and sidelines, the final weeks of our winter fixture season delivered moments that captured what Clayfield Sport is all about: sustained effort, belief in one another and the courage to keep showing up.
An undefeated QGSSSA Open Tennis Premiership. Seven wins from eight matches for our Senior Division 1 Hockey team. A BBI Premiership for our U14 Boys Basketball team.
These results were not created in a single match or one brilliant performance. They were built through early mornings, repeated drills, difficult contests and the quiet commitment to return each week ready to improve. This was reward for effort and a finish to the season of which our entire community can be proud.
To our families, thank you. Thank you for the early starts, the countless kilometres, the sideline support and the encouragement that continues long after the final whistle. To our coaches, staff, officials and volunteers, thank you for the energy, expertise and belief you invest in our students. These achievements belong to you, too.
Undefeated. Undeniable. QGSSSA Open Tennis Premiers
Clayfield College’s Open Tennis team has completed a flawless QGSSSA season, going undefeated on its way to claiming the 2026 QGSSSA Open Premiership.
Across every round, the team played with composure, purpose and an unwavering belief in one another. When matches tightened and pressure built, our players found a way, point by point, game by game and round by round.
Their Premiership adds another proud chapter to Clayfield’s rich tennis story, in a sport that has been part of the QGSSSA competition since its beginnings in 1908.
The depth of the program was also evident in the performances of our Senior A and Junior A teams, with both securing outstanding third-place finishes.
Congratulations to Captain Ivy Lauder, Iris O’Donnell, Lily McManus and Isis de la Cruz on an exceptional season. We also acknowledge High Performance Coach Matt Limpus and the Lifetime Tennis team, together with Program Coordinator Mr Tim Opstelten, for their contribution to this achievement. This Premiership is the reward for not only an outstanding season, but years of dedicated development, consistent effort and an unwavering commitment to Clayfield Tennis.
Seven Wins. One Remarkable Hockey Season
Our QGSSSA Senior Division 1 Hockey team signed off on an exceptional QGSSSA campaign with seven victories from eight matches and the strongest for-and-against record in the competition.
The numbers tell part of the story but not all of it.
This was a team prepared to work for one another. They attacked with intent, defended with discipline and competed with enormous heart from the opening round to the final whistle of the season.
Seven victories were the reward for weeks of preparation and a collective determination to keep raising the standard. Congratulations to our players on a season that was powerful, consistent and unmistakably Clayfield.
We also extend a special thank you to Miss Morgan Andrew for her coaching, leadership and coordination of the Hockey program. Her commitment to the players and the program has been instrumental in the team’s outstanding season.
U14 Boys Crowned BBI Premiers
The final buzzer sounded and the Premiership belonged to Clayfield.
Our U14 Boys Basketball team completed a superb BBI Club Basketball winter season by defeating the Brisbane City Blues in the Grand Final and lifting the Premiership trophy.
On the biggest stage of their season, the boys delivered. Their defence was relentless, their decision-making was composed and their commitment to one another was evident in every possession. They trusted the work they had done, embraced the pressure and earned their reward.
The victory was also a significant moment for our growing Senior Boys Basketball program, which fielded five teams across the winter competition. It reflects the momentum being created throughout the program and offers an exciting glimpse of what lies ahead.
Congratulations to the players and coaches - Brodie Meis and Brooke White on an outstanding season and a Premiership earned through effort, teamwork and belief.
Teamwork on the Trails: Graduation Cup Mountain Biking
Six Clayfield College mountain bikers took to the trails at Nerang last week for the Graduation Cup and this time, individual speed had to combine with genuine teamwork.
In a change from the usual race format, riders competed in teams of three, with every placing contributing to the final team result. It was a true test of consistency, collective effort and the willingness to race for one another.
The Intermediate Boys team of Oliver Sproles, Daniel Gallagher and Flyn Mantsio combined to finish 14th, while Archer Sproles, Jett Woolnough and Tom Pain secured 18th place in the Junior Boys division.
Congratulations to all six riders for embracing the challenge and representing Clayfield with determination and team spirit. Thank you to our coaches, Mark Watts and Ariella Titman for the preparation and support they provided, and to our fantastic Maintenance team for ensuring our riders and bikes made it safely to the start line at Nerang.

Britton Shield Basketball
The annual Britton Shield Basketball competition brought plenty of energy and excitement to the courts at Hibiscus Stadium, with our boys proudly representing Clayfield College across the U8, U10 and U12 divisions.
For many of our U8 boys, this was their first basketball competition. Despite facing more experienced opposition, they approached each game with enthusiasm, determination and a willingness to learn. The competition provided a valuable opportunity to develop their skills in a game environment, and the boys should be proud of the way they competed and represented the College.
Clayfield also fielded two teams in both the U10 and U12 divisions. Competing across two pools, the U10 Green team finished in fourth place, while the U10 Blue team placed ninth after narrowly missing the finals. Both teams demonstrated excellent teamwork and determination throughout the day.
Our U12 teams produced a series of impressive performances, showcasing strong defence and intelligent ball movement. The Blue team continued to improve throughout the competition, building momentum with each game and displaying excellent sportsmanship.
The Green team delivered an outstanding undefeated campaign, completing a clean sweep of victories to claim the U12 Championship Trophy. Their teamwork, composure and determination were evident throughout an exceptional day of basketball.
Congratulations to all the boys involved in an enjoyable and successful Britton Shield competition. A heartfelt thank you also goes to our coaches and to the many parents and supporters whose enthusiastic encouragement contributed to a wonderful atmosphere throughout the day.
