At Wednesday's assembly, we proudly recognised the achievements of our award-winning ensembles at the school assembly following their recent success at the Sydney Eisteddfod, one of Australia’s most prestigious performing arts competitions.

Our students have demonstrated tremendous commitment throughout the year, attending regular rehearsals and striving for excellence under the guidance of our outstanding conductors, directors and tutors. Their dedication was rewarded with exceptional results against some of the strongest school music programs in the state.

Congratulations to the students and their conductors - Miss Laura Power, Mr Geoff Power and Mr David Sismey - whose expertise, passion and leadership have guided these ensembles to such impressive achievements.

Year 9 Performances

The Year 9 Elective Drama class recently entertained audiences with their extended Commedia dell’Arte performance, The Mysterious Letter. Centring on the hapless Zanni, who discovers a letter at his workplace and, unable to read, desperately seeks help to decipher its contents, the performance took the audience on a wild, slapstick-filled adventure. Throughout the performance, students skilfully portrayed a range of the iconic stock characters from the Commedia canon, bringing their exaggerated personalities and comic situations to life. The production showcased the students’ understanding of the theatrical style while demonstrating their creativity, collaboration, and performance skills.

It was clear that the class had embraced the spirit of Commedia dell’Arte, putting their learning into action and having plenty of fun along the way. Well done, Year 9!
