Year 11 Leader of Learning
As we settle into the new school year, I would like to acknowledge the wonderful start our Year 11 students have made so far. Moving into their VCE or VCE VM pathway is a significant transition, and it has been encouraging to see students stepping into their roles as senior members of the school with maturity, enthusiasm, and a growing sense of responsibility. Many have already demonstrated positive engagement in their classes and a genuine commitment to setting goals that will support them throughout their final years of schooling.
On that note, I want to take the time to thank all the students who completed and submitted their holiday homework on time. Your organisation and commitment to learning have set a strong foundation for the year ahead. The year level leadership team will be working through the list of students who haven’t yet submitted the work and contacting families to discuss the consequences for their progress in VCE/VCE VM.
To support our learners, our focus will be on strengthening study routines, building wellbeing practices, and helping students develop the confidence and resilience they need to thrive. During Term 1, our weekly STEP classes will be designed to give students the tools to revise effectively, manage time, and reflect on their progress. We encourage families to continue these conversations at home as your partnership plays an invaluable role in helping students stay organised, motivated, and empowered to achieve their best.
I would also like to remind everyone of the importance of being at school every day. Consistent attendance is one of the strongest predictors of academic success, and the VCAA has strict policies regarding attendance requirements.
However, if you are unwell and unable to attend, it is essential that you stay up to date by following the lesson plans and resources posted on Compass. This ensures you don’t fall behind and can return to class feeling confident and prepared.
I look forward to working closely with our Year 11 cohort as they continue to grow, challenge themselves, and support one another.
If you have any comments, questions or concerns throughout the term, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
