Year 8 Update
Ms Lanza
Year 8 Leader of Learning
It has been a positive and energetic start to the year for our Year 8 students. Over the first few weeks, our focus has been on building strong routines, reinforcing high expectations and supporting students to settle confidently into their learning. Students have been revisiting our College values and learning what successful behaviours look like across different classrooms, helping to create a consistent and supportive learning environment.
It has been fantastic to see students build friendships, reconnect with peers, and engage positively in their classes. Establishing these foundations early in the year sets our cohort up for success, and we are proud of the way our Year 8 students are responding.
What’s Coming Up
We are looking forward to several exciting experiences for Year 8 in the coming weeks.
On Tuesday, 25 February, the Casey360 Bus will be visiting the College, arriving at 9:30 am. This interactive experience provides students with practical information about local services, community supports and opportunities available to young people within the Casey region. It is a valuable session designed to strengthen students’ awareness of their local community and to help them access support when needed.
A major highlight of the Year 8 calendar is our upcoming camp at CYC Phillip Island Adventure Resort from Wednesday, 27 May to Friday, 29 May 2026. This three-day adventure program is designed to build teamwork, resilience, trust and problem-solving skills, while giving students the opportunity to challenge themselves in a supportive and engaging environment. We encourage families to complete payment and consent via Compass by 1 May 2026 to secure their child’s place.
We are excited for what lies ahead and look forward to continuing to build a strong, connected and confident Year 8 cohort throughout the term.
