Student Voice - Springvale Campus 

Welcome to the last week of Term 2! It has been a very exciting term filled with excursions and exciting incursions. Some of the fun experiences we attended included Camp at Golden Valley on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula near the ocean. The SLC also participated in the Launch Incursion in the hall, where we learned about business and how to conduct market research to find out what people are interested in buying. We have also had many whole school events such as the Hercules production and Cross Country. What an eventful term!

In Week 9, our AFL and Netball teams competed in their Grand Finals! The AFL team played against Lighthouse, while the Netball A team faced Heights Campus. Both teams played exceptionally well and demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork and determination throughout their matches. One thing our teams did particularly well was supporting and encouraging their teammates both on and off the court and field. The AFL team achieved a fantastic result, scoring 67 points to Lighthouse's 20 points. The Netball A team also performed brilliantly, winning 13–3. We are proud to share that both teams won their Grand Finals and were filled with joy and pride as they celebrated these incredible achievements. District matches will be held in July, and we would like to wish all teams the very best of luck!

In Week 9, we also celebrated Refugee Week. Refugee Week is a time for us to recognise people who have been forced to leave their countries because of conflict. We also learned that during Refugee Week, many refugees share their stories and experiences of leaving their home countries. Refugee Week is very important because it helps us understand the challenges refugees face and shows them that they are welcome in our community. 

This Refugee Week, our school community came together to support newly arrived refugee families by donating non-perishable food items, toiletries, toys, and essential supplies. 

This week, we also participated in student-led Conferences as part of our parent-teacher interview process. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to share our achievements and learning progress with our families. We enjoyed showcasing our work and reflecting on how much we have learned so far this year. During the conference, students presented pieces of work that they were most proud of, giving them the opportunity to share their learning journey and progress personally.

Remember to use your Safety Hand, and if you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or even if you just need someone to talk to, don't forget to speak to one of your five trusted adults. It is also important to stay safe during the holidays and remember to wear warm clothing when outdoors.
