Snapshots from Springvale
As we reach the end of Term 2, we would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, families and staff for their hard work, commitment and support throughout what has been a busy and productive semester. We are incredibly proud of the learning, growth and achievements we have seen across all year levels.
This week, we welcomed families to our Parent-Teacher Interviews. These meetings provided a valuable opportunity for students, parents and teachers to come together to celebrate learning, discuss progress and set goals for the future. It was particularly pleasing to see so many students confidently sharing work they were proud of and reflecting on their learning journey. Student voice and ownership of learning are important for building confident, engaged and independent learners and it was wonderful to witness students showcasing their achievements and explaining how they have grown throughout the semester.
Our Kitchen Garden Program has continued to flourish this term, with students harvesting an abundance of winter produce from the garden. The pumpkins have been particularly impressive this season and, along with a variety of other fruits and vegetables grown by our students, have been making their way from the garden into the kitchen.
During Kitchen classes with Mrs Lu, students have been transforming the harvest into a range of delicious and nutritious recipes while developing valuable cooking skills and learning about healthy food choices.
As we head into the winter school holidays, we encourage families to take some time to rest, recharge and enjoy spending time together. School holidays provide a great opportunity for children to continue learning through everyday experiences and family activities.
Some free or low-cost activities families may wish to enjoy include:
Visiting your local library and borrowing books to read together.
Exploring local parks, playgrounds, walking tracks and nature reserves.
Riding bikes, playing outdoor games or going on a family walk.
Cooking or baking together and practising measuring, reading recipes and problem-solving.
Creating artwork, craft projects or building challenges using recycled materials.
Visiting local community events, markets or free museum and gallery exhibitions.
Playing board games, card games or completing puzzles together.
Encouraging children to keep a holiday journal, draw pictures or write about their experiences.
Even simple activities such as talking together, reading each day, playing games and exploring the local community can help children maintain important literacy, numeracy and social skills while creating lasting family memories.
We wish all of our families a safe, happy and restful holiday break. Thank you for your continued partnership and support throughout the first half of the year. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 13th of July for Term 3, refreshed and ready for another exciting term of learning.
Enjoy the holidays and stay warm!
Mrs. Mirela Karup
