Interschool sport
Interschool sport in secondary schools is a little different to how it is run in Primary schools. We are a part of the Maribyrnong Division so will complete against Maribyrnong College (not their academy students), Brookside P-9 College, Creekside K-9 College, Southern Cross Grammar, Footscray High School, Braybrook College, Victorian College of the Arts and eventually Lakeview Senior College. The division runs Swimming, Cross Country & Athletics carnivals but also runs summer & winter sports (in terms 1, 2 & 3) as a round robin tournament on one day in the term for each year level: eg Year 7 day is 1st April for summer sport in 2025. There are also a larger variety of sports on offer.
Splashing Success at Our First Swimming Carnival!
On Wednesday 12th February, we kicked off an exciting new tradition with our inaugural Swimming Carnival at the Bacchus Marsh outdoor pool, and what an event it was! The day was packed with thrilling competitive races, where some students showed off their swimming skills while others raced for a spot on the school swimming team. There were also plenty of fun events, allowing everyone to join in and earn valuable homegroup points!
A huge congratulations goes out to all students for their enthusiastic participation! To make the day even more exciting, we held a pizza lunch competition: the homegroup with the highest participation (not results) won a delicious reward. And the winners are... 7C and 8B for having the highest participation in their respective year levels - well done!
We also had the privilege of selecting four outstanding swimmers to represent the school at the upcoming Division Swimming event. Their dedication and effort were truly inspiring!
Thank you to everyone who made the day a splash! We can’t wait for our next carnival, Athletics on Thursday 3rd April - let’s keep the spirit going!
Maribyrnong Division Swimming Competition
On Wednesday 27th February, our swimming team made a remarkable wave at the East Keilor Leisure Centre during the Maribyrnong Division Swimming competition! What an exciting leap forward from 2024 to 2025 - last year, we had just one swimmer, but this year, our team has grown to four swimmers. Huge congratulations to Will, Isaia, Tong, and Stella for making the team and taking on this challenge with determination and pride!
But the best part? Not only did our team grow in numbers, but our results soared! In 2024, we celebrated a third-place finish. In 2025, however, we levelled up and brought home some impressive finishes across the board:
● 12/13 Girls 50m Freestyle: 2nd Place
● 12/13 Boys 50m Freestyle: 2nd Place
● 12/15 Girls 100m Freestyle: 2nd Place
● 12/13 Girls 50m Breaststroke: 3rd Place
● 12/13 Boys 50m Breaststroke: 3rd Place
● 12/13 4x50m Freestyle Relay: 2nd Place
What an achievement! Our swimmers have proven that teamwork, hard work, and dedication really pay off.
