2025 Begins on a High Note!
The new year has started off with excitement in the Music Department! We are thrilled to welcome two new additions to our music team: Amanda Jurukovski and Gabrielle Di Mauro. Welcome to the family!
Year 8 Classroom Music – Exploring Film Composition
Year 8 students are diving into the world of Film Music Composition, exploring how composers use different techniques to enhance storytelling and evoke emotions. They are learning about leitmotif, ostinato, and harmony, understanding how these elements represent characters, build tension, and create atmosphere in films. Through hands-on activities and analysis of famous film scores, students are developing skills in crafting and manipulating musical elements to support visual media effectively.
Currently, students are working on their Practical Film Music Tasks. Here is an example of a practice task created by Elijah (8D), Amna (8C), Jarnail (8C), and Jaskarat (8C). This student composition demonstrates the use of ostinato in film music through an electronic music composition.

Join the Music Performance Club!
Looking for extra time to practice, explore new musical ideas, and connect with fellow musicians? The Music Performance Club runs every Wednesday at lunchtime, offering students a great opportunity to play instruments, refine their skills, and collaborate with others in a relaxed and supportive environment.
This club is a fantastic way for music students across different year levels to come together and build a school band with the guidance of our music teachers. Whether you want to develop your instrumental skills, jam with friends, or be part of an ensemble, this is the perfect space for you!
