Year 4-6 Athletics Carnival

Our Years 4–6 House Athletics Carnival was held this week with our students displaying their enthusiasm for House spirit, and athletic achievement.

It was wonderful to see students supporting one another across all events, cheering on their classmates and celebrating each other's successes. Whether competing on the track, participating in field events, or taking part in the novelty activities, students displayed outstanding effort and sportsmanship.

The carnival also showcased the impressive athletic talent within our Year 4 and Middle School. There were many outstanding performances across the various disciplines, while the high level of participation ensured every House had students contributing valuable points throughout the day. The enthusiasm shown by students to get involved in a wide range of events was a highlight and reflects the positive culture of our House program.

A sincere thank you to all staff, student leaders, and volunteers who helped make the day such a success.

The overall House results will be announced at this week's assembly and will also be published in next week's Whispers. Congratulations to all students on making the carnival such an enjoyable and memorable event.

Futsal – Champion of Champions

The U12 Futsal team headed into the East vs West Champion of Champions competition, eager to test themselves against some strong opposition. Across their three group matches, the team drew their opening game 2–2, followed it up with an impressive 5–3 victory, and narrowly lost their final match 2–1 after conceding in the final 40 seconds.

Finishing second on the ladder, the team progressed through to the semi-final, where they unfortunately fell short in a penalty shootout.

While a few things didn’t quite go the team’s way on the day, the players showed great determination and resilience. Most importantly, they walked away with valuable lessons and plenty to build on moving forward. Well done to the entire team on a fantastic effort!

Our U19s team also competed at the same tournament and also achieved great success. The boys played some outstanding futsal throughout the day, combining well in attack and defending with determination. Their results across the group stage were enough to secure a place in the semi-finals, where they faced a tough opponent in a closely contested match.

Producing a spirited performance, the team was able to progress to the final, winning in a shootout 4-3. This was a wonderful turnaround considering they were beaten by this team in the group matches.

Although the result in the Final wasn't the one they had hoped for, playing against quality opposition and matching it with them is an excellent achievement. The experience gained throughout the tournament will undoubtedly hold the team in good stead for future competitions. Well done to all players and coaches on a fantastic effort.

ACS Cross Country Training

Our ACS Cross Country Squad has officially begun training as they prepare for the ACS Cross Country Championships on 14th August

Students have attended before school training on Wednesday and Fridays, whilst we are also including an afterschool session on Mondays. It has been encouraging to see such a positive turnout, with runners supporting one another and embracing the opportunity to train together.

The coming weeks will focus on building endurance, developing race strategies, and ensuring athletes are ready to perform at their best when they represent the College at the Championships.

We wish all members of the squad every success in their preparation and look forward to seeing their hard work rewarded on race day. Good luck to all students as they continue their journey towards the ACS Cross Country Championships.
