ALUMNI Update

YEAR 10 WORK EXPERIENCE ASSEMBLY

Alysia Thomas-Sam did her work experience at Target and is now a journalist; Emily House did hers at the local primary school and is now a detective; and Ryan Peddle completed his work experience with a landscaper and is now a Marketing Specialist. Ahead of Year 10 students heading off for their own work experience, these alumni were able to share how valuable they found it themselves, despite it being unrelated to their eventual career trajectory.  

For these alumni, work experience helped them build foundational skills that they still use today, including communication, problem solving, dealing with strangers, working within a structured environment, determination and hard work.

ABOUT THE ALUMNI PROGRAM 

Frankston High School is continuing to grow its alumni program in partnership with Ourschool, a not-for-profit alumni program for state secondary schools and the first of its kind in Australia. 

By connecting with the alumni program, past students can provide career guidance and work experience opportunities for current students, establish scholarships and bequests, or volunteer in lots of other ways. 

Ourschool is working with Frankston High to help these things happen by growing the school’s alumni community and coordinating the involvement of alumni in the school.
