MIDDLE School Update

Dear Parents/Carers and Students
As Term 2 comes to an end, we commend our Year 9 and 10 students for their commitment throughout a busy and productive semester. We’ve continued to build a strong culture of high expectations, grounded in our school values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy.
Careers and Course Information Update
Thank you to all the students, parents and carers who attended our Careers and Course Information Evening on Monday 30 June. We hope you found the session valuable in supporting your child’s planning for 2026.
For those who were unable to attend, or if you would like to revisit the information, we’ve made the presentation slides and a recording of the evening available on Compass.
Families of students moving from Year 10 into 11 can now book Course Counselling appointments via Compass. We strongly encourage parents and carers to attend these sessions to support students in making informed subject choices and planning for their future pathways.
The updated 2026 Handbooks will be available by the end of this week via the Star tab on Compass. These include detailed information about subject offerings, course structures, and pathways to help guide students and families through the selection process.
Please refer to the attached table on Compass for important dates specific to your child’s year level, including course counselling sessions, subject selection deadlines, and other key events.
Semester 1 Exams
Congratulations to all Year 9 and 10 students on completing your Semester 1 exams. These exams are an important part of your school year, and we’re proud of the effort, focus, and resilience you’ve shown throughout the process.
Results will be available on Compass. Please take some time to go through your Semester 1 report feedback, celebrate your progress, and set some clear goals for Term 3.
Year 9 Upskills Week
In the final week of Term 2, our Year 9 students participated in Upskills Week. This wasan engaging program designed to build essential life skills, develop teamwork, and inspire future career thinking.
Students took part in a series of hands-on workshops focused on career pathways, wellbeing, communication, and teamwork, delivered by a range of external providers, alumni and school staff. A highlight of the week was the City Excursion, where students worked in teams to navigate Melbourne, and build their confidence in a real-world setting.
Year 10 Work Experience
In Week 11, our Year 10 students took part in Work Experience, stepping beyond the classroom to explore the world of work and gain valuable real-life skills. From education and healthcare to retail, trades, schools and office environments, students embraced a wide range of industries and roles.
The week provided an opportunity to build confidence, develop independence, and begin thinking more deeply about future career pathways. Feedback from employers was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising our students for their professionalism, initiative and enthusiasm.
We thank the Careers Team, all families and employers for their support in making this important program such a success.
Student Attitudes to School Survey
Thank you to all students who completed the 2025 Attitudes to School Survey. Your voice plays a vital role in shaping our school culture and informing future planning. Results will be analysed next semester, and we look forward to sharing our key focus areas in response to your feedback.
IMPORTANT: Compass Card Reminder and Replacement Information
Compass Cards were issued to all students during Term 1. These cards are an essential part of daily school life and must be carried by students at all times.
Compass Cards are required to:
- Access the toilets
- Make purchases at the canteen
- Sign in if arriving late
- Sign out if leaving early
- Accessing photocopiers.
If a student has lost their Compass Card, a replacement must be ordered via Compass.
How to order a replacement Compass Card:
- Log in to your Compass Parent or Student Portal
- Go to the ‘My Compass ID Card’ tab (under your student’s profile)
- Select ‘Order Replacement Card’
- Follow the prompts to complete payment and order
Thank you for your support in helping students stay organised and prepared for each school day.
Uniform Reminder
As outlined earlier this year, wearing the school uniform with pride reflects respect for ourselves, each other, and our school community. All students are expected to wear the full winter uniform each day, including a visible white shirt with collar visible, and are reminded that non-school jumpers or hoodies are not permitted. Jewellery is not permitted, except for a maximum of two ear piercings (stud or sleeper). Make-up must be natural and not excessive.
If a student has a genuine reason for being out of uniform, they must bring a note from a parent or carer and collect a Uniform Pass before 9:00am.
The full Uniform Policy is available on the Frankston High School website.
