SENIOR School Update

Dear Parents/Carers and Students
As Term 2 draws to a close, I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all students, families, and staff on a productive and successful semester on the Senior Campus.
To our Year 11 students, well done on completing your first semester of VCE and VCE VM studies. For many of you, this has involved settling into new routines, meeting increasing academic expectations, and developing your independence as learners. Congratulations to those who completed their Unit 1 mid-year examinations, and to our VCE VM students for completing a semester of work placements and TAFE – a significant milestone in your VCE journey.
🎓To the Class of 2025, our Year 12 students – I commend you for your continued embodiment of our school motto, Optima Semper (Best Always). With just 11 school weeks remaining, it is clear that you are striving to make every day count. Term 2 has seen you achieve important milestones, including the completion of your Unit 3 assessment period and participation in the GAT on Tuesday 17 June. We continue to be impressed by your focus, determination, and resilience.
To celebrate the Class of 2025 and acknowledge their achievements so far this year, we held a Year 12 End of Term Celebration Assembly. Thank you to Ms Brittany Harvey (Head of Year 12), along with Ms Kate Burgess and Ms Kelly Mitchell (Year 12 Coordinators), for hosting this special occasion. It was a chance to reflect on the highlights of Term 2 and present a number of well-deserved awards.
Subject Achievement Awards were presented for excellence in Unit 3 studies. In addition, the following students were recognised with our Pillar Awards:
Excellence Award Recognising outstanding achievement in academics, extracurriculars, or personal skill development.
Recipients: Jack Karthigesu and Alyssa Lancaster
Community Award Recognising meaningful contributions to the school or wider community through service and leadership.
Recipients: Alex Van Krieken and Emily Hallam
Aspiration Award Celebrating students who strive for personal growth and demonstrate perseverance and ambition.
Recipients: Jed Erich and Jaan Dawson
Congratulations to these students on their outstanding efforts – and to all students who continue to lead by example in their final year of secondary schooling.
Preparing for 2026: Year 11 Course and Career Planning
As our Year 11 students prepare for their 2026 programs, we are pleased to have commenced this important process with our Careers and Course Information Evening on Monday 30 June. This event provided students and families with valuable information about confirming subject selections, checking tertiary prerequisites, and preparing for course selection interviews. Thank you to Ms Carla Caminiti, Head of Careers and Pathways, for her leadership in this area.
This work will continue into Term 3 through a career exploration focus in OPTIMA classes, supporting students to make informed decisions about their future pathways:
📅 Week 2 – Thursday 31 July VCE/VCE VM Tertiary & Subject Expo Year 11 and 12 students can attend during Periods 5 and 6 (if not in class) or join with their families after school from 3:30–5:00pm.
📅 Week 4 – Monday 11 August Course Selection Deadline Final day to submit subject preferences via EDVAL.
📅 Week 5 – Monday 18 & Wednesday 20 August Course Selection Interviews Bookings open Tuesday 1 July via Compass. Students are required to attend, and parents/carers are warmly encouraged to join.
📝Careers Support for Year 12 Students
To our Year 12 students and families – thank you for your continued engagement with our Careers Education Program. Our Careers Coordinator, Ms Michaeli Lyon, has now met with over 85% of the cohort, providing valuable guidance around post-school options, the VTAC process, and early entry schemes.
By the end of the year, every Year 12 student will have participated in a personalised career counselling session. Appointments can be made via the Careers Office, located next to Room 304 on the Senior Campus.
Please continue to check Compass for updates, including upcoming University Open Days and new opportunities to help shape your future beyond Frankston High School. The VTAC website is also a valuable resource: Guides, fact sheets and worksheets
