Principal's Message

To Our College Community,
Welcome back to Term 3!
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our students on how well they have settled back into school after the holiday period. Students have demonstrated their engagement in learning by being in class on time, having their equipment ready, and showing respectful behaviour towards their peers and staff.
Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize
Congratulations to Logan, a Year 12 student, who was announced as one of the 12 winners of the Premier’s Spirit of the ANZAC Prize. This exciting announcement was made on Tuesday at Melbourne’s Parliament House by Natalie Suleyman MP – State Member for St Albans, Minister for Veterans, Minister for Small Business and Employment, and Minister for Youth.
This year marks 20 years of the Premier’s Spirit of ANZAC Prize, a program that continues to empower young Victorians to learn about our military history and honour those who have served.
The competition provides a remarkable opportunity for 12 students to retrace the steps of our ANZACs in Gallipoli, Türkiye. Logan is one of three Bairnsdale students who have received this prestigious award. Congratulations to all of you!
Sister School Visit
This week, students from our sister school, Yaei High School in Japan, visited our College. They attended classes and participated in a range of incursions and excursions.
I am incredibly proud of our students who engaged warmly with the Yaei students—from classroom activities to shooting hoops on the basketball court. This visit is a wonderful opportunity for all students to learn about another culture and build lasting friendships.
I would also like to sincerely thank the families who have generously offered to host and welcome a Japanese student into their home. Your kindness is deeply appreciated.
Sport
What a fantastic start to Term 3 it has been with so many exciting sporting events:
- State Cross Country
- Senior Hockey
- Senior Soccer
- Junior Soccer
Please head to the sports page of this newsletter to read more about these wonderful events and all that has been achieved. A huge congratulations to the Senior Hockey and Senior Soccer teams, who will now advance to compete at the State Level!
Thank you to all the staff who organise and support these events. These enriching experiences would not be possible without your dedication and commitment.
I encourage you to please take the time to read the other sections of this newsletter. Our students have been involved in so many wonderful events and class activities—from trekking the Kokoda Trail, playing basketball in the USA, attending a job expo at Lardner Park, celebrating academic achievements with a pizza lunch (Year 8 and Year 9), to designing and creating impressive projects in technology classes. There is so much to read and celebrate!
Thank you for taking the time to stay connected with our College community. We look forward to a fantastic Term 3 ahead!
Sincerely,
Tony Roberts
Principal
