We are excited to officially welcome Tarkyn, Layla and Reine as the newest members of our Year 7 Student Leadership Team!
These students have shown outstanding qualities of responsibility, teamwork and initiative, and we are confident they will be excellent representatives of their peers.
They will be joining our current Year 7 leaders to form a strong and supportive leadership group. Together they will play an important role in leading assemblies, supporting student projects, and helping build a positive inclusive school culture.
Congratulations once again to Tarkyn, Layla and Reine - we look forward to seeing the great work you'll do as leaders!
7N are a very social and energetic bunch, our conversations can range from pink milk to sewing creations, through to welding, motorbikes, cars, as well as basketball and netball. They enjoying having a chat and some could talk under water.
There are some good friendship groups in there led by the "Monkays"! Generally, they are well prepared and organised for their learning. When someone has a good session, they get to sign their name on our Lorax picture!
In Literacy, we are currently creating some poems for our poetry CAT. Some of the forms that we have identified include Haiku, Sonnet, Limerick, Ballad and Free Verse. We are also developing our expectations in digital Book Clubs and reinforcing key reading skills such as summarising, opinions and analysis.
Within Numeracy, we are finishing off our unit around statistics, the students have data that they need to sort, represent and analyse. We also cover number sense daily, with varied activities. Our next topic will be basic algebra!
TEXTILES
7N have just progressed into Textiles this term and are practising skills required to complete their apron. In this activity they were tracing their hand, cutting out and creating a collage - emphasizing the importance of careful tracing and cutting.
Students were very successful in this activity.
ART
The first task was to design a creative and personal front cover for their visual diary. This cover showcased the students' drawing or collage skills, as well as expressing unique personality, interests and creativity - something akin to a visual introduction to who you are!
SCIENCE
Students investigated the melting and boiling points of various household substances and recorded the results in a table.
Understanding how to measure and compare melting and boiling points deepens student understanding of physical properties of substances and phase changes.
HUMANITIES
Currently in Humanities, 7N is learning about Parliament in Australia and the election process.
By the end of the lesson sequence 7N will be able to explain who can be elected to parliament in Australia, the election process and how the candidate system works. Students will also have an understanding of a candidate's motivation for standing for election.
